“HERE’S some free advice: don’t open an online betting site a week before Cheltenham,” advises Anthony Kaminskas.

“Based in Harold’s Cross, Dublin, we went live with our website at 10am last Friday. The technology is working fine and we’ve plenty of customers. It’s just the results that are the problem.

Our modus operandi is offering really competitive prices. We don’t do gimmicks, like offering extra places. We will lay any horse to lose €15,000 and our limit on multiples is €100,000.

The first two days of the Festival have been a bit of a bloodbath. Mind you, it could have been worse. If either Facile Vega or Gerri Colombe had won we would have been in serious bother.

Going back to Tuesday, Marine Nationale was a small winner in the book. El Fabiolo in the next was a bad result. Punters steamed into him while Jonbon was weak enough. The Champion Hurdle wasn’t a betting race though plenty had Constitution Hill in multiple bets.

Weirdly, Honeysuckle has been a friend to us. At Leopardstown punters knocked us over trying to back her but this week they all backed Marie’s Rock, so Honeysuckle was a neutral result.

Mahler Mission falling at the last in the final race was a sickener for trainer John McConnell and also for us. Another winner for the multiple backers.

I don’t particularly want to relive all of Wednesday’s racing. Suffice it to say that Energumene was the worst result of the day. All I can say is thank God Gerri Colombe did not win too.

Looking ahead to Thursday, we don’t want Mighty Potter, Shishkin or Luccia to win. Flooring Porter is probably our biggest loser in the Stayers’ Hurdle but there’s a good spread of business in that race. The majority of our clients are Irish and Stumptown in the Kim Muir is the one they all want to back.

There’s more short prices on Friday’s card. Getting Galopin Des Champs beaten in the Gold Cup will be important for us. Wish us luck!”
