GROUP 1 JUDDMONTE INTERNATIONAL STAKES (WEDNESDAY)

IT goes without saying that Postponed will be hard to beat, but we all remember what happened to Golden Horn a year ago, and the strong favourite and likely smallish field means there is a nice each-way shape to the International, and the each-way value lies with York regular The Grey Gatsby.

He has made the frame at this meeting in all three seasons he’s raced to date, and he’s also won twice at the track, including the Dante over this trip. He can again show his liking for the Knavesmire by finishing in the money, and he doesn’t have a huge amount to find on European form with the market leader.

Kevin Ryan’s five-year-old entire hasn’t had things fall right for him for a while, but he showed all his ability was intact with an unfortunate second to Big Orange at Newmarket when trying a longer trip last month, and he is best served when able to use his loping stride, as he can at York.

Highland Reel, rather than US Army Ranger will represent Aidan O’Brien, and while he has his chance, the feeling is that the King George he won was a much weaker affair than this will be.
