1.45 M & T PLANT HIRE MAIDEN HURDLE 2M

The Last Emperor makes appeal. He won once in seven starts during his flat career with Roger Varian and he reached a rating of 87 which would suggest he should make up into a capable hurdler.

Much of his form is on decent ground but it is encouraging that he was placed on soft ground and if his stamina holds up in this new discipline he should take beating.

He is chosen ahead of the 119-rated Christopher Robin who was very disappointing last time but would have been the selection if he came here off his third to Star Max at Gowran last month.

SELECTION: THE LAST EMPEROR

Next best: Christopher Robin

2.20 SHAMROCK ENTERPRISES MAIDEN HURDLE 2M

This could see An Fraoch Mor get off the mark. He began his career with an eye catching effort in a Fairyhouse bumper and last time out he faced the unenviable task of taking on the subsequent Cheltenham winner City Island in a novice hurdle at Naas. He was beaten just over 13l into fourth at Naas which would point to his ability to play a leading role here.

His biggest threat could come from the 104-rated Darver Star who showed up well in a Fairyhouse maiden hurdle last time when beaten 6 1/2l into fourth by Halsafari.

SELECTION: AN FRAOCH MOR

Next best: Darver Star

2.55 NEVILLE HOTELS NOVICE HANDICAP HURDLE (80-109) 2M

Claregate Street should be open to making further progress in this discipline and she is taken to succeed as she looks to build on a solid effort in a Clonmel handicap last time when she was beaten a neck by Reine Fee.

She has plenty of weight but she should still be able to deal with the juvenile Viscount Wilson who improved markedly on his first few runs over hurdles to finish second in a four-year-old only handicap at Naas last month.

SELECTION: CLAREGATE STREET

Next best: Viscount Wilson

3.30 MICHEAL O’MURCHADHA MEMORIAL HANDICAP HURDLE 2M 4F 60yds

This could see Hareth notch up another success. This soft ground loving gelding was showing signs of returning to form only to be brought down in a handicap hurdle at Naas last week. Any rain that falls over the weekend will work in his favour and he is only 3lbs higher than when winning a valuable handicap hurdle at Navan 14 months ago.

Brave Out won this race last year and should go close again with his last few runs including a second to Blast Of Koeman at Punchestown and a fourth to the progressive Smoking Gun at Gowran. Timeforwest is interesting as she switches from hurdles to fences.

SELECTION: HARETH

Next best: Brave Out

4.00 ARCTIC TACK STUD VETERANS HANDICAP CHASE 2M 4F

Westerner Point can win this fine prize for veteran chasers. The 10-year-old is a very useful sort at his best and he comes here have won a decent Grade B handicap chase over just short of 2m 4f at Limerick over Christmas. He shouldn’t have any trouble with a 7lb rise in the weights and the ground won’t be an issue for him either.

Vent De La Cote could be dangerous. He goes well fresh so an absence stretching back to September when he won a 3m handicap hurdle at Listowel isn’t a concern. The pick of his chase form makes him dangerous. The joint top-weight Goulane Chosen will also be dangerous having shown up well in a decent 2m2f handicap at Gowran Park last week.

SELECTION: WESTERNER POINT

Next best: Vent De La Cote

4.35 BARRY ENNIS MEMORIAL NOVICE HANDICAP CHASE 2M

This could see Reach Up continue his solid run of form. He produced a nice effort to win a 2m novice handicap chase at Gowran last month and then he acquitted himself well in a better race back there last week when he was beaten just under 18l into fourth by Ex Patriot. This slightly shorter trip should work in his favour and he can deal with the hat-trick chasing Dylrow who finds himself 7lbs higher in the weights for beating All The Chimneys and Dakota Moirette in a Fairyhouse handicap last time.

SELECTION: REACH UP

Next Best: Dylrow

5.10 TOMCOOLE FARM LTD (PRO/AM) FLAT RACE 2M 4F

Braeside looks a solid option. On his racecourse debut he ran a respectable race at Down Royal to finish a 10l second to the capable Valdieu and he improved on that showing when tried over 2m3f at Naas next time, finishing a 4l second to Latest Exhibition.

Both of those efforts would suggest that a bumper success is within his reach and this longer trip should suit him.

He is chosen ahead of Ontheropes who is surely better than he showed on his debut at Fairyhouse on New Year’s Day when he was beaten 10l into sixth by Castle Oliver. A longer trip and much slower ground could see him step forward.

Fire Away must have every chance on his fine second to Dinny Lacey at Punchestown last month.

SELECTION: BRAESIDE

Next Best: Ontheropes
