1.30 Wexford Racecourse Mares Maiden Hurdle 2m 4f

Despite a 226-day absence to overcome, the 96-rated Shing Shang Lily might be the one to side with for Cian Collins. She flashed a degree of potential in a couple of maiden hurdles at a more competitive time of year, she’s lightly raced and has run respectably around here before.

The locally-trained Moonlight Paradise has a useful pedigree and won a point-to-point for Denis Murphy before selling for £60,000. This is a massive drop in class from the Leopardstown maiden hurdle she was well beaten in over Christmas when last seen. Dromana Mist didn’t run badly when seventh at Cork last weekend, while Scathach isn’t a forlorn hope for the red-hot Ross O’Sullivan yard.

SELECTION: SHING SHANG LILY

Malikanna was an eye-catcher when second at Limerick last time on her handicap debut and is bound to go close again, despite a 5lb rise for that effort. She showed up well in a maiden hurdle that’s worked out well from the Navan Racing Festival and remains in a decent grade if she can improve from that initial handicap experience.

Simple Things bumped into a very well handicapped winner at Bellewstown and rates a real threat. Don’t rule out Paul Nolan’s Two Pair either.

It was a positive return from a break for Deed Pole when third, beaten only a length, on the flat at Limerick three weeks ago. That run could set him up nicely for a return to hurdles, especially now that he’s down to the 0-100 bracket for the first time. He might be on a decent mark.

If Noel Kelly has Garrick Painter ready enough after 289 days off, he’s definitely a big player off a mark of 100. He’s worth a market check. Liberated Light and Pleasureofpressure aren’t out of the equation on their recent form.

Annie’s Belle was in the process of running a solid race when coming down at the second last here in April and, if none the worse for that, could represent a bit of value. That was her first start in handicap company and she was taking on a better calibre of rival than she meets here, now down into the basement grade. She’s one of the more unexposed ones in here.

If Gamigin is back to something like he showed when second at Down Royal in January, he’ll be bang there, while Fedneys Park wasn’t disgraced behind a well-treated winner at Bellewstown last time.

Ian Donoghue has three runners with chances in here and, having run with credit when third off 7lb higher over fences last time at Down Royal, Beggars Rock gets a very tentative vote.

Perhaps his stamina was stretched slightly over a couple of furlongs further than this on that occasion, but he’s been fancied off higher marks in the past and this is his kindest assignment over hurdles since his last win in this sphere.

Consistent maiden Jackmoon and proven stayer Whatsavailable, who is nicely down in class with a good 5lb off, make some appeal. Aine’s Lad has the potential to have mileage in his mark over hurdles and has been in terrific form before a mini-break.

SELECTION: BEGGARS ROCK

4.25 T.C. Cullen Memorial Novice Chase 2m

A tidy race for this time of year. Workahead was a close second in the Grade 3 Red Mills Trial Hurdle two starts ago before an ambitious attempt at the Champion Hurdle. The former point-to-point winner now goes chasing for Henry de Bromhead, who has won three of the last five renewals of this and is well renowned for readying his string for fences.

The 6lb Workahead receives from Supersundae will be a big help, given how impressive that former Grade 1 Lawlor’s Of Naas Novice Hurdle runner-up jumped at Kilbeggan last time when winning by 17 lengths. He’s well down in trip but has shown a touch of class over hurdles and jumped impeccably last time. Wild Bill Hickok scored in smart style by 11 lengths here just nine days ago on his chasing debut. This is a deeper race but he’s getting an attractive four-year-old allowance.

SELECTION: WORKAHEAD

With his confidence raised from a first win over fences at Kilbeggan three weeks ago, Tell Nobody Nothin could follow up off 6lb higher in a winnable-looking contest. He’d been difficult to fully work out trip-wise prior to that two-and-a-half-mile success, but he did stay on well and has form over further. He’s also out of the Grade 2-winning mare Bonny Kate, who scored over three and a half miles in the Punchestown Grand National Trial.

If One Horse Army can cope with much drier ground than what he won on at Fairyhouse two starts ago, he’ll be a player, Hit The Frame likes it around here and shouldn’t be far away.

Patrick and Willie Mullins could strike in the bumper with newcomer Star Of Idaho in the Roger Brookhouse colours. A half-sister to the same owner’s useful Stellar Notion (rated low 140s), she represents the same connections of last year’s winner of this race and the standard of form on offer doesn’t look insurmountable.

Our Sara was a minor eye-catcher when fourth at Bellewstown in an auction bumper four weeks ago. C’Est Elle can build on her rules debut third in a bumper in February for the in-form Gordon Elliott, and both Gortnaclea Castle and Morning Express have shown flashes of winning potential.

SELECTION: STAR OF IDAHO
