2.08 Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Maiden Hurdle 2m
A well-bred daughter of King Of Change, the Gordon Elliott-trained Ballyhahill can register a first win. Fourth on her introduction at Limerick last month, the four-year-old should have benefitted from that experience and, appears to have been found a nice opportunity to get her head in front.
Former point-to-point winner Crohan Lady sets a fair standard off an official rating of 100. Having just her third start for trainer Liz Lalor, she could still be open to improvement and, first-time cheekpieces may be a positive move.
SELECTION: BALLYHAHILL
Next best: Crohan Lady
2.43 Copper Coast Maiden Hurdle 2m
Third on his debut for Henry de Bromhead at Clonmel last time, Polepatrick can step up two places. A lightly raced six-year-old gelding, the son of Laverock was having just his first start over hurdles. Although the hood he wore on that occasion has been discarded, he is sure to know his job and, looks the one to beat.
A 113-rated six-year-old, Kentucky Beach commands respect back in maiden company. Third in a big field handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse over Easter, the Philip Rothwell-trained gelding has plenty of experience, which should stand to him here.
SELECTION: POLEPATRICK
Next best: Kentucky Beach
3.18 Adare Manor Opportunity Maiden Hurdle 2m 4f 110yd
Narrowly beaten at Cork earlier this month, Jackmoon can go one place better. Johnny Flavin’s seven-year-old Spanish Moon gelding drops back in trip here but travelled strongly through his most recent race and looks versatile distance wise. It would be no surprise to see Jordan Canavan try to make this a proper stamina test.
Dont Tell Jack reverts to hurdling, having finished third over fences at Navan last month. With plenty of handicap experience, the Enda Bolger-trained gelding should appreciate stepping back into maiden company.
SELECTION: JACKMOON
Next best: Dont Tell Jack
3.53 Anne Valley Walk Handicap Hurdle 2m 4f 110yd
Recent Clonmel winner Ellies Rock can follow up for trainer Terence O’Brien. Having just her fourth start for the yard, the eight-year-old mare kept on well to open her account. Although now rated 6lb higher, the fact that she races over an additional half-mile should help negate that rise.
A winner at this track over fences, Maciver has to be of interest off this lower hurdles mark. Impressive here in January, the nine-year-old went on to win his next three starts. There could still be some room for improvement off a 9lb lower mark in this discipline.
SELECTION: ELLIES ROCK
Next best: Maciver
4.28 Core Bullion Traders Handicap Chase 2m 5f 140yd
Winner of this race for the last two years, the Brendan Walsh-trained Rochestown can bring up the hat-trick. With four of his previous five career victories arriving here, the gelding is clearly something of a track specialist. Despite finishing tailed off at Limerick on his latest start, the 11-year-old is sure to have been laid out for this.
On identical terms to 12 months ago, 2025 runner-up General Clermont rates the main threat. Although unable to win in seven subsequent starts, the Davy Fitzgerald-trained gelding has been largely consistent over both fences and hurdles.
SELECTION: ROCHESTOWN
Next best: General Clermont
5.00 West Waterford Novice Handicap Chase 1m 7f 110yd
Kotkito Bello should be difficult to beat back over fences. A winner of his only chase to date at Thurles in October, the Philip Rothwell-trained gelding went on to score twice over hurdles subsequently.
Far from disgraced when fifth in a listed contest at Leopardstown on his penultimate start, he had excuses when pulled up recently at Fairyhouse.
A stablemate of the selection, Marelly could provide the biggest threat. While clearly a better horse over flights, he ran his best race over fences thus far when second at Limerick last month.
SELECTION: KOTKITO BELLO
Next best: Marelly
5.30 SETU Students Day April 20th Handicap Chase 1m 7f 110yd
Runner-up at Wexford on her recent stable debut, Spanish Maid can belatedly open her account. A 19-race maiden, the daughter of Workforce improved on previous efforts when a well backed favourite on her first start for Ross O’Sullivan. Granted normal improvement, the eight-year-old should get off the mark in what looks a winnable contest.
A lightly raced gelding, Courtbrack Boy has to be of interest on his chasing debut. A winner over flights at Clonmel on his penultimate start, it could be significant that connections have opted to go chasing so late in the season.
SELECTION: SPANISH MAID
Next best: Courtbrack Boy
