12.00 DAVID FLYNN BUILDING CONTRACTORS MAIDEN HURDLE 2M
Adreamstillalive is put forward in what looks quite a weak contest. This eight-year-old holds a rating of 92 but she comes here in much better form than a number of her rivals. She was just touched off by Ardera Cross in a handicap over this course and distance several weeks ago, while another good run was her runner-up finish to Catcheragain at Gowran Park in November. She is preferred to Day Day who has run some good races at this track, such as when second to Icelip in a handicap hurdle at this track in June. Day Day may prefer better ground than she will encounter here.
Selection: ADREAMISTILLALIVE
Next best: Day Day

This could provide Broughtons Star with a deserved changed in fortune. This 10-year-old has filled the runners-up spot on his last two completed starts and the most recent of those came at Down Royal on Monday where he was beaten ½l by Backinthesaddle. He is chosen ahead of Ardera Cross who won over this course and distance a few weeks ago. Ardera Cross finished 5½l behind the selection when they filled the minor placings in a Thurles handicap won by Neddyvaughan in November.
Selection: BROUGHTONS STAR
Next best: Ardera Cross

Berry Des Aulmes is the choice. He stepped forward from a disappointing comeback to finish second to Brave Out in a maiden over this course and distance last time and a look at his overall form would suggest that he can make his mark in a race like this. He is chosen ahead of fellow Gigginstown-owned runner Brightest Flame who is fitted with blinkers for the first time. Brightest Flame posted quite a respectable effort last time when finishing fourth in a Fairyhouse maiden hurdle won by Minella Till Dawn.
Selection: BERRY DES AULMES

(80-109) 2M 5F
He has to contend with top weight but Dawerann comes into this race in fine heart and should be able to mount a strong challenge. He won at Punchestown over 2m 4f three weeks ago and now finds himself 6lbs higher in the weights which doesn’t look excessive. Furthermore, he gave a good account of himself at Leopardstown on Monday when finishing fourth in the 2m 2f handicap won by Concordin. Returntovendor has been running well and was beaten just over 3l into third by Barrys Jack at Limerick on Wednesday. A similar effort should enable him to get closely involved.
Selection: DAWERANN
Next best: Returntovendor

Alelchi Inois would prefer better ground but he is a former course winner, has been excellent form all season and this earns him the vote. A fortuitous winner of the Clonmel Oil Chase on his penultimate start when he profited from Outlander’s last fence fall, the 160-rated gelding was fourth in the Durkan Chase last time. He was beaten 22l there but the finish of that race was fought out by Djakadam and Outlander and this represents a notable drop in class. He is preferred to former stablemate Roi Des Francs whose comeback third to Champagne Fever and Lord Windermere at Thurles was encouraging. Roi Des Francs has done his winning over fences at longer trips but he shouldn’t have much difficulty with this distance.
Selection: ALELCHI INOIS
Next best: Roi Des Francs

Motown Bob has run to a solid standard on all three of his chase starts and should find a race such as this within his reach. He was having his first run for over a year when finishing fourth to Prickly at Fairyhouse last month and he followed that with a solid third to Powersbomb at Clonmel. At Clonmel he finished in front of both No Dice and Minella Scamp. That duo are dangerous rivals and Minella Scamp, who was disappointing at Clonmel, would have an excellent chance if coming back to the form of his second to Attribution in a beginners’ chase at Naas in November. The dual point-to-point winner Slemish is interesting on his chase debut.
Selection: MOTOWN BOB
Next best: Minella Scamp

On his handicap chase debut at Down Royal on Monday Paper Lantern was unable to justify favouritism but he still posted a very creditable effort in finishing a 1l second to Moonlone Lane. On that evidence he is quite capable of making his mark at this level and, in a race where a number of his rivals are struggling for form, this looks a good opportunity. The top-weight Fluspar must be considered a danger. He picked up 15lbs for winning here recently which will make this an altogether stiffer task. However, he did win well that day and another strong challenge should be forthcoming.
Selection: PAPER LANTERN
Next best: Fluspar
