5.00 Assembly Tech Irish EBF Fillies Maiden 1m 4f
Granted normal improvement from a promising debut effort, the Paddy Twomey-trained Ledecky should open her account. Fifth at Galway on her introduction, the daughter of Wootton Bassett stayed on nicely inside the final furlong, having been hampered over three furlongs out. This looks a good opportunity in a winnable contest. With an official rating of 83, the Joseph O’Brien-trained Marazion sets the standard. While the Sea The Stars filly may do better in handicaps in time, she has to be a contender given the lack of strength in depth here.
SELECTION: LEDECKY
Next best: Marazion
5.30 Griffin Auctioneers Maiden 1m 4f
Runner-up on her debut at Ballinrobe, the Ken Condon-trained So Golden can go one place better. In finishing a length second to a high-class National Hunt horse, the daughter of Golden Horn had two winners in behind. Provided that she has taken a step forward from that initial outing, the four-year-old should land this contest.
A Grade 3 runner-up over hurdles, Dream On Baby has to be a danger if fit and ready on her first outing since Punchestown in May. While trainer Emmet Mullins may have something back over jumps as her main target, the mare has the ability to get involved here.
SELECTION: SO GOLDEN
Next best: Dream On Baby
6.00 Morris DIY Rated Race 1m 4f
Ballinrobe winner Galaxy Wonder can follow up under Nicola Burns. Making all the running on that occasion, the Andrew McNamara-trained gelding kept on strongly to register a first career win. Provided that the visor, which he wore for the first time at the County Mayo track, continues to prove effective, he should be hard to beat.
Dundalk winner Drucker has yet to match that form on grass, but would have to enter calculations if doing so. Trainer Andrew Slattery has his team in excellent form at present, so anything that the yard runs deserves maximum respect.
SELECTION: GALAXY WONDER
Next best: Drucker
6.32 Strand Inn Dunmore East Handicap 1m 4f
Tramore Derby winner Stepdance can complete the hat-trick here for trainer Henry de Bromhead. Having landed a first career victory in that latter race, the five-year-old mare followed up at Limerick on her next start. In the form of her life at present, she has every chance of bringing up the three-timer.
Daymer Bay would be of definite interest if getting away on terms. Having reared at the start and lost considerable ground at Sligo last time, the Ciaran Murphy-trained gelding did very well in the circumstances to finish a never nearer sixth. On the evidence of that run, the son of Expert Eye has races in him.
SELECTION: STEPDANCE
Next best: Daymer Bay
7.02 Perennial Freight Handicap 1m 4f
Galway Hurdle fourth Tounsivator looks thrown in here off a flat rating of 78. Twice a winner in his native France, the gelding has improved considerably since going jumping. Having been successful in Grade 2 company over hurdles, the son of Motivator now boasts an official rating of 139 in that disciple. He should land this prize before having his sights raised.
Expound, who has won under both codes in recent months, continues to run well. A prominent racer, who usually makes the running, the Denis Hogan-trained gelding should be ideally suited to this tight track.
SELECTION: TOUNSIVATOR
Next best: Expound
7.37 Brennan’s Pharmacy Handicap 2m
A beaten favourite at Galway last month, the Joseph O’Brien-trained Shoda can register a second career win. Having landed her maiden at the festival in Ballybrit last year, the four-year-old was almost certainly campaigned with a repeat bid in mind. Having just come up short when finishing second, she can step up a place now.
Successful in a maiden hurdle on his debut for Willie Mullins in January 2024, Highwind has failed to add to that subsequently. However, having been highly tried on occasions, the five-year-old should appreciate this easier task.
SELECTION: SHODA
Next best: Highwind
8.10 Dan Cowman Memorial Handicap 2m
Having chased home a subsequent winner here in the Tramore Derby on his last start on the flat, Spinning Web can improve a place. A decent dual-purpose horse, the Mags Mullins-trained gelding should hold decent claims in this company. Although yet to prove that he stays this far, the five-year-old has won over longer distances under National Hunt rules.
A winner over hurdles at Killarney last month, Swelltime looks nicely treated back on the flat. While the William O’Doherty-trained gelding has failed to exploit such a mark in the past, he arrives here in really good form.
SELECTION: SPINNING WEB
Next best: Swelltime
