1.00 Joe Mac Novice Hurdle(Grade 3) 2m

Annie G looks an exciting prospect and can continue her impressive form since going hurdling. A front-runner who gallops the opposition into the ground, she really caught the eye when finishing just behind a highly regarded mare in Gypsy Island here three runs back. Since then, she has won twice in a row in the manner of a very smart novice.

The Names Jock lacks the experience of his rivals but is a tough handicapper on the flat. He couldn’t have been more impressive on his hurdling debut recently so certainly looks a threat.

Saldier, who won the Galway Hurdle carrying top weight, looks the horse to beat. In terms of natural ability, he is more than capable of doing so under these terms.

Jason The Militant is a Grade 3 winner and wasn’t disgraced at the highest level last year. Indeed, he was mentioned as a Cheltenham horse until being forced to miss the Champion Hurdle at the last minute and will be a threat despite his burden of having to carry the top weight.

Fan De Blues won a similar race to this at Galway and seems to have turned the corner. A decent hurdler, he has been slow to show that same ability over fences but looks the part now. He rates the main threat.

Pairc Na Ngael is a speculative suggestion in a difficult race. With most of his rivals either out of form or requiring a longer trip, he has a more obvious chance than his figures indicate. Well fancied when slightly unlucky over hurdles last December, he is almost certainly capable of better.

She Tops The Lot has yet to win over fences but has shown ability since switching codes. The Yeats mare will appreciate this tight, speed track more than most.
