Claret was very green when seventh on debut at Leopardstown in August and it would be no surprise to see a much-improved performance. Any market support would be significant. Having reached the frame on both starts to date, Acclamatic has to be respected. The application of cheek pieces could help him take a step forward now.

SELECTION: CLARET

Akecheta should be able to record back-to-back successes. A game winner over seven furlongs last time, Kevin Coleman’s mare had previously shown that she stays this far. and ground conditions are very much in her favour.

Despite now being in the veteran stages, the Dermot Weld-trained Coeur d’Or has been running well all season. Fourth in the Irish Cambridgeshire on his penultimate start, the nine-year-old went on to finish runner-up at Punchestown last month. He should make his presence felt as long as the ground doesn’t deteriorate further.

SELECTION: AKECHETA

Fourth in a stronger race over course and distance last time, Copacabana Sands can get back to winning ways. A huge improver since joining trainer Michael O’Callaghan this season, she has landed both a listed and Group 3 success. With both the trip and testing ground likely to suit, she should be hard to beat.

The Paddy Twomey-trained Deepone would have strong claims if coping with the drop in trip. Although very lightly campaigned in recent times, he shaped with promise when third on his latest start.

SELECTION: COPACABANA SANDS

3.18 BOYLE Sports Novice Hurdle (Grade 3) 2m 20yd

Love Me Tender is given the vote despite taking a significant step up in class. Unbeaten in two starts to date, the Willie Mullins-trained gelding landed a Tramore bumper, before following up in a maiden hurdle at Kilbeggan. Although the bare form of those two races doesn’t amount to a great deal, the four-year-old couldn’t have done it any easier. Icare d’Aubrelle has to be of interest given that he brings strong winter form to the table.

Winner of the Grimes Hurdle over course and distance in July, the Noel Meade-trained Jesse Evans can land another decent pot. The Galway Plate runner-up recerts to hurdles here eand has strong form claims.

Enniskerry would have every chance if coping with testing conditions. Runner-up to the selection in the Grimes Hurdle, the Barry Connell-trained veteran has shown his best form on decent ground.

The Philip Fenton-trained Balko d’Ange can defy topweight to record the second win of his career. Runner-up on his first two runs over flights, the five-year-old opened his account at Limerick over Christmas. Having posted solid efforts in three subsequent outings, the gelding remains open to further improvement.

Half A Chance shouldn’t be far away after being beaten a neck at Listowel recently and has to be a contender off just 3lb higher.

5.00 ODS Engineering Novice Chase (Grade 3) 2m 3f 160yd

Back in a smaller field, Pied Piper is taken to resume winning ways. Successful on his first three runs over fences, the former high-class hurdler looked a novice to follow.

Below par in a stronger race at the Galway Festival, he fell in the Kerry National last time and while undoubtedly having questions to answer now, he is a class act on his day.

Gold Dancer won his beginners’ chase at this track in May before landing that aforementioned Galway race last time. With the form of that race having been boosted by the runner-up since, he warrants maximum respect.

SELECTION: PIED PIPER

A half-sister to two blacktype horses, Churchfield Annie catches the eye. Emmet Mullins is well adept at producing debutants to win in this discipline and it will be interesting to see how strong she is in the market.

Sligo runner-up Circus Hill looks best of those to have already raced. Sixth on debut at that same venue in June, she came forward from that experience to reach the frame last time.

SELECTION: CHURCHFIELD ANNIE
