Ministerforsport has something to prove now having been pulled up in three of his last four starts. However, when on song he is a very decent novice who should be well up to winning a race of this nature. A reproduction of his penultimate outing when second at Limerick would be good enough to see him take the spoils.

Mormon has a bit to find with the O’Neill horse strictly on hurdles form but he gives the impression he could make into a smart chaser. There was plenty to like about his staying-on fifth in a competitive renewal of the Troytown last time out.

Warreedy, who looks particularly well treated reverting to chasing, can complete the hat-trick. A winner over fences at Roscommon in August, he has gone on to win twice over hurdles since then, so a chase mark some 9lb lower looks exploitable here. Neither trip nor ground are likely to be an issue so he is given a confident vote.

Bitview Colin has run consistently well this term so has to be a candidate for local connections. His Ballinrobe second received a big boost last weekend, and his subsequent efforts saw him finish ahead of a couple of todays rivals.

Uaintseenothingyet is relatively lightly raced despite his age so may have more improvement in him. Running in the colours of the race sponsors, he is sure to have been targeted at this contest for some time and Simon Torrens is riding incredibly well at the moment. In a wide-open affair, he is given a speculative vote.

All The Chimneys loves it around Thurles and added to his impressive course record with a win last time. Despite being penalised for that success, he has to be a leading player back on familiar territory.

Sayce Gold faces no easy task giving weight away to all her rivals but Mick Winters’ mare may just be equal to the feat. A winner on each of her last three starts, she has impressed with her engine and the quality of her jumping. Dropping back a full mile from her recent Grade 3 win in Cork may seem a strange decision but she should have the pace to cope.

Place Des Vosges won her maiden hurdle over course and distance before stepping up in class to contest a Grade 2 hurdle last time. Looking held when falling two out, she will find this easier so shouldn’t be discounted despite having a bit to find at the weights.

Morning Skye has a long absence to overcome but is a well-handicapped horse over hurdles. Making his debut for a new trainer here, his fitness has to be taken on trust so there are risks involved. Having said that, he has run well fresh in the past and has also shown a liking for this course as evidenced by a close third here last November.

West Cork Wildway won his maiden hurdle at Killarney in August over this trip before being just touched off at Listowel. Although disappointing on his most recent outing, he is afforded another chance to prove himself capable of better.

Allbarone has improved with each step up in distance thus far and this lightly raced type may be able to take a tight knit affair. With very little separating the runners on form, it may come down to which horse appreciates the test of stamina the most. Henry de Bromhead has his team in excellent form approaching the festive period and can strike here.

Frontal Assault has twice finished in the frame at this track so will almost certainly be involved again. Although yet to win a race of any description, when it does all fall into place he is likely to win a few.

Cottie has run well on all three career starts to date, including when fifth in a listed mares’ bumper on her latest outing. Her young rider was unable to claim on that occasion, so with his 7lb allowance back in play the mare should take all the beating in this finale.

Flame Bearer could be an interesting contender for his local trainer. Second on his sole start in a point-to-point, the form of that race hasn’t worked out too bad in the interim.

Although potentially vulnerable to a horse with more toe, he could take some beating if allowed take them along from the outset.
