11.37 Adare Manor Opportunity Handicap Chase 2m 5f 127yd

Any Road was travelling well in the latter stages of a competitive two-mile beginners chase last time out, when he appeared to be tapped for toe in the straight. Third on his only previous start over fences, he is of interest on handicap debut, particularly over this longer trip.

Hitak’s chase debut in September, when he finished third behind two graded performers, gives him a leading chance here. He failed to reproduce that form on his two subsequent starts, but cheekpieces might revive the lightly-raced eight-year-old.

Milan Forth, a four-time winner in hunter chases and point-to-points, is another for the shortlist. That’s About Right’s course and distance win came off 4lb lower, but considering he scored by six lengths on that occasion, he may remain on the right side of the handicapper. In contrast, A Nod To Getaway and Inthenickoftime have hefty rises to overcome.

The Little Yank has tumbled down the weights to a career-low, after running on ground slower than ideal for the 10-year-old. Narrowly denied over this trip earlier in the year, he deserves another win on his 99th career start.

Liam McKenna recorded a double on Sunday and bids to continue his fine run aboard Island McCoo, who should produce an improved effort with two runs this season now under his belt.

Rising Dust received a 15lb hike for last month’s course win, and it’s difficult to see him winning off his new mark. Aclass went up 6lb for winning a beginners’ chase last time out, and while he won it well, it was against less experienced opposition than he’ll encounter today.

Amen Kate’s behaviour last time out, when she jinked and unseated at the start, weakens confidence in getting behind the clearly useful mare. Korinthia has yet to raise alarm bells and while her maiden hurdle win was less flashy, she backed up with a fine third in a Grade 3 next time. The runner-up, Grade 3 bumper winner Carrigmoornaspruce, adds weight to that form.

Salsinha has much less experience than either of the above, but impressed on debut in a mares’ bumper during the summer and showed great promise on hurdle bow last month. She finished a length and three quarters fourth to a Grade 1-placed bumper mare who was subsequently sent off favourite for a similar race to this, in which she claimed runner-up honours.

That was on heavy ground, and considering how she skipped clear in a summer bumper, the French import may be seen to better effect on today’s surface.

Fiver Friday is one of the least exposed contenders and the highly-rated flat mare appears to be on a workable hurdle mark, considering she had excuses on handicap debut (had mucus in her lungs). Third on her first start for Gavin Cromwell at the Curragh in mid-October, she also benefits from Eoin Staples’ 7lb claim.

Half A Chance’s penultimate effort gives him a leading chance, having finished second to a progressive sort that has now won three of his last four starts over hurdles. He was disappointing since, but now returns to his preferred trip off 6lb lower.

Kotkito Bello benefited from a smart ride on testing ground last time out, and the consistent five-year-old may not enjoy the same advantage today, which he may need to overcome a 10lb rise.

Magic Day is one for the shortlist, should she return to the form she showed last season, which looks more likely with a run under her belt this term.

Chichester Park disappointed last time out when sent off second favourite for a four-horse bumper, but remains of interest as he returns to hurdles, given that his debut hurdle third is what instigated the support.

The point winner finished third to a Grade 1-placed bumper horse at Listowel, with the winner since placing in a Grade 2 hurdle, while the runner-up won his next two starts.

Willie Mullins’ six-figure purchase Eliodam has a far more disappointing effort to build on, having been sent off second favourite for the George Mernagh Memorial Bumper on debut in April, when he was well-beaten.

Market support, or lack thereof, has told on both of Top Coeur’s starts; a well-backed third in a bumper on debut in February, returning to finish a well-beaten fourth at 50/1 on his hurdle bow last month.

It will be interesting to see which version we see today.

Boedic finished fourth on debut in the valuable sales bumper that Eliodam – his stablemate in the first division – disappointed in. The No Risk At All gelding, who cost €175,000 at the store sales, holds obvious appeal.

Luker’s Tipple was outclassed in a valuable listed handicap hurdle last time out, but his three previous placed efforts feature him highly in the reckoning at this level. Premier Rogue’s promise in bumpers bodes well for his future over hurdles.

Zeus Power also showed potential in bumpers, and the greenness that hindered him also came into play on his first attempt over hurdles. That experience should stand to him today.

While Some Song was undoubtedly fortunate to win last time out – he was a clear third when the first two fell at the final flight – but the smart point winner had been running a good race until clearly tiring before the turn for home.

William Tell has progressed on all of his three starts over hurdles, most recently over course and distance, but he faces stiffer opposition today. In contrast, pricey pointer and smart bumper horse He Can’t Dance has been disappointing so far this term, though last month’s effort was an improvement on his previous.

A first time tonguestrap is hoped to turn things around for Gordon Elliott’s charge, and has also been employed by John McConnell for Minella Supreme following a slightly disappointing run at Cheltenham, where the three-mile trip may have stretched him.

Reiki Revolution was unsuited by heavy ground last time, but the five-year-old remains of interest based on his commanding maiden hurdle success in October. It’s difficult to know what he beat that day, but he couldn’t have won any easier.

Tountinna shaped like a smart type when outrunning odds of 33/1 in a Punchestown bumper last month. A promising sixth on her only previous start, the Order Of St George mare finished just a length and three quarters behind the unbeaten winner, separated by a runner-up with smart form, and drew clear of the remainder.

It rates as stronger form than Lennon Grove’s course second in an auction bumper in October, and she won’t enjoy the same race conditions today. Fellow point-to-point winner Sound Judgement is second reserve but Gordon Elliott’s sole entry figures highly if getting a run.

Kayla’s Friend, by the late Jukebox Jury, was well-backed at Quakerstown last month and looked the likely winner when unseating at the last. The decision to switch to bumpers rather than seek a point maiden win may be telling.

Patrick Mullins is an eyecatching booking for €54,000 store buy Wicked Pleasure, a Harzand half-sister to two blacktype horses, and a full-sister to a bumper winner.
