2.20 FAMILY FUN AFTERNOON AT TRAMORE RACES MAIDEN HURDLE 2M

Gusty Rocky is chosen to deliver on her creditable hurdling debut at Galway when she was beaten just over 11l into fifth by Most Peculiar. She also won a flat maiden at this track in May and on the flat was third to Marchese Marconi over 2m at Limerick in June. Landau has yet to make a telling impression over hurdles but he does hold a rating of 113 and on the flat he has been in the frame in handicaps at Galway and Leopardstown where he only just failed to defeat Mr Snagsby. Marty’s Magic ran quite respectably over hurdles at Galway when he was beaten 14l into second by Marchese Marconi. He needs to bounce back from a disappointing run on the flat at Sligo last week.

Selection: GUSTY ROCKY

Next best: Landau

2.50 FRANK GILLANE MEMORIAL MAIDEN HURDLE 2M

He pulled up on his most recent start over hurdles at Roscommon in June but several solid runs on the flat since then would indicate that Alileo should find this race within his grasp. The six-year-old was seventh to Hidden Universe at Galway last time having previously been placed behind Pacelli Road at Leopardstown and Massini’s Trap at Killarney. He was also third to Massini’s Trap on his only other start over hurdles. Dainty Diva had to settle for eighth on her hurdling debut at Wexford last month. She is entitled to be all the better for that outing as it was her first since she won a bumper at Wexford in October.

Selection: ALILEO

Next best: Dainty Diva

3.20 RICHARD POWER PRIVATE CLIENT BETTING HANDICAP HURDLE 2M

The Ring Is King has to defy top weight and a career high rating of 120 but he may still succeed. He won nicely at Sligo last month when defeating Mojito Royale by 5l and the form of that race does look solid which means he can defy an 8lb rise in the ratings. King High, who is due to run on the flat here on Saturday evening, won this race last year and is now only 2lb higher. He is a three-time course winner on good or better ground. A good run from Decade Player would not surprise. He was beaten 18l into fourth by Wisty at Cork last time but his previous fourth to Desertmore Stream in a decent 2m handicap hurdle at Punchestown in June represents a strong piece of form here.

Selection: THE RING IS KING

Next best: King High

3.50 CHIA BIA (Q.R.) MAIDEN HURDLE 2M 5F

A chance is taken on the experienced Magical Moon who has shown enough on a number of occasions to suggest that he is up to making his mark in a maiden hurdle. He was unable to justify favouritism when beaten 7l by Kolaphos at Kilbeggan last weekend but his previous 2l third to Greatness in a Galway handicap hurdle represents a fine effort on his part. Tempest Missile lacks previous experience over hurdles but she did show a very willing attitude when holding off Supreme Vinnie by a neck to win a 2m 3f bumper at Kilbeggan last month. Pale Face has offered some encouragement on two of her three outings over timber. Indian Fairy looks another with a clear chance although she was due to contest a mares’ maiden hurdle here last night.

Selection: MAGICAL MOON

Next best: Tempest Missile

4.25 COMERAGH VETERINARY HANDICAP HURDLE (RATED 80-102) 2M 5F

The Bold Beckey won over this course and distance last October and she is put forward to strike again off a 5lb higher mark. The six-year-old has shown signs of returning to form lately as she followed a respectable fifth to Routes Delight at Cork last month with a 4¼l third to Stolberg at Limerick last time. She could have most to fear from Royal Chief who was a neck second to Never Said That over this course and distance in May. Royal Chief should find this a much less demanding assignment that the Galway handicap in which he finished unplaced behind Greatness.

Selection: THE BOLD BECKEY

Next best: Royal Chief

4.55 HEINZ POLLMEIER MEMORIAL HANDICAP CHASE (RATED 0-109) 2M

This could see Akinspirit prevail on his first venture into handicap company over fences. He is a capable 116-rated hurdler and he has shown some signs of promise over fences such as when beaten less than 10l into fifth by Afatcat at Clonmel two months ago. An encouraging second to Mojito Royale in an extended 1m 4f flat handicap at Tipperary last week offers plenty of encouragement. Raydari was just behind Akinspirit at Clonmel and he subsequently finished a 13l second to Formidableopponent in a beginners’ event at Killarney last month. He is open to more progress over fences than most of his rivals.

Selection: AKINSPIRIT

Next best: Raydari

5.25 TRAMORE AMUSEMENT & LEISURE PARK MARES BEGINNERS CHASE 2M 7F

Mrs Mac Veale could be worth taking a chance on. She is having just her second run over fences here and she needs to bounce back from a below par effort in a Galway handicap hurdle. Last autumn she reeled off three victories in succession and she holds a rating of 116 in that sphere. If returning to her best she is more than capable of making her mark in a race such as this. Definite Ruby ran respectably to be beaten just over 18l into third by Ted Veale in a beginners’ event at Galway two weeks ago and that effort would entitle her to get involved.

Selection: MRS MAC VEALE

Next best: Definite Ruby
