5.45 COOLMORE FASTNET ROCK MATRON STAKES (GROUP 1) 1M

Fiesolana: One of the most progressive fillies in training last year and has been just as good this season, gaining valuable Group 1 black type when third in the Prix Maurice de Gheest at Deauville last time. This firmer ground holds no fears for her and she has solid prospects.

Kenhope: A French raider that proved a bit disappointing when sent off favourite for this race last year, she has got back on track of late with two impressive wins, most recently in a listed race at Dusseldorf. This is a stronger renewal than last year, but she has fair place prospects.

Purr Along: Looked as good as ever when making a winning start for Johnny Murtagh in the Lanwades Stud Stakes at the Curragh in May, but hasn’t gone on from that and proved very disappointing on her latest outing at Tipperary.

Tobann: Won in Group 3 company over seven furlongs at Fairyhouse in July, but has been below her best in her last two starts and is perhaps better suited to seven furlongs than this trip.

Wannabe Better: A Group 3 and two-time listed race winner, but she has yet to suggest that she is up to this level and is best watched for now.

Flying Jib: Looked a bright prospect when beating her elders in the Athasi Stakes at the Curragh in May, but has not kicked on as hoped in two subsequent starts, proving especially disappointing on soft ground at Cork last time. This surface will suit better, but she has a bit to prove now.

Palace: Has had a busy season, with the highlight being a win in listed company at Killarney in July. Likely to fall short at this level.

Rizeena: Beat Tapestry in the Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh last year and has maintained that level of form this season, winning the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot. Her two runs since have been solid and she is a leading contender over a trip that suits her well.

Tapestry: Slightly unlucky to be beaten by Rizeena in the Moyglare Stud Stakes last season, she has gradually come back to form after a disastrous seasonal reappearance in the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket, culminating in a sensational victory over the unbeaten Taghrooda in the Yorkshire Oaks last time. The drop back to a mile is the big question mark, but she has the best form in the race.

Wee Jean: A British raider, she has shown good progression this season, but has shown nothing to suggest she will prove up to this level.
