Despite her outside draw, Vanderbilt House should be good enough. Johnny Murtagh’s daughter of Blue Point ran well in three above-average maidens as a juvenile. There was also much to like about her recent third at the Curragh on her reappearance. In first-time blinkers, she should be able to gain a prominent position and make her experience count.

Agouti Bear also holds strong claims. Runner-up on her first two starts as a juvenile, the Danny Murphy-trained filly might just be one to catch fresh.

Noel Meade’s Chester Nimitz sets a strong standard here. Runner-up over a mile at Bellewstown in April, the son of Profitable should have no difficulty dropping back to sprinting. With an official rating of 84, he should have enough natural ability to see off some lesser-rated rivals in this ordinary maiden.

The once-raced Titan Sun could represent his biggest threat. An eye-catching fifth in a big field at the Curragh on his only start at two, the Peter McCreery-trained gelding warrants plenty of respect.

Last year’s winner Gegenpressing can make it back-to-wins wins in this race. Also drawn widest of all 12 months ago, Chris Hayes managed to negotiate a trouble-free passage through to win rather snugly at the finish. Granted similar luck in running this time round, he remains well enough treated.

Dark Enigma is interesting on her stable debut for Jerry Murray. A consistent filly last season, the four-year-old has a prominent style of racing, which should prove quite effective around this sharp track.

Recent Navan runner-up Makaiah should appreciate dropping back into the bottom grade. Having met trouble on two separate occasions in that race, the Gerard O’Leary-trained four-year-old did very well to stay on to take minor honours. In this smaller field, she should hopefully get a clearer run.

Stablemate Dumb Love may well present the biggest danger. Third at Gowran Park last time, the five-year-old had been running very consistently under both codes prior to that solid effort.

A recent winner over hurdles at Cork, Carried With Love has to be of interest back on the flat. She looked far from the finished article in five starts last season, often being slowly away or racing green. With the benefit of those runs over jumps this winter, she could be a very different filly now.

J M’s Joy found the step up in group company a bridge too far last time, but had looked smart when winning her maiden on her previous start. Gavin Cromwell’s representative should find this easier.

Cork runner-up Grizabella can strike on her second start for Paul Flynn. Beaten less than a length, the mare was short of room over a furlong out, before keeping on late. Despite being raised 3lb subsequently, the six-year-old can effectively run off that old mark here once the claim of Robert Whearty is taken into account.

Top Of The Pops doesn’t have the best of draws for one that likes to race prominently, but would be a contender if breaking quickly. A tight track like this should be ideally suited to his style.

Unlucky when fourth at Navan recently, Angelo Pio can gain compensation. The Joseph O’Brien-trained colt travelled into that race strongly, but had nowhere to go for much of the straight. Once the gaps finally appeared, he made huge late strides to reach the frame close home. With a clearer passage, he should be involved here.

Birdie Time gives the impression that she might be suited to further in time. However, if able to hold a prominent position on the first circuit, she should be finishing stronger than most.
