With a rating of 107, the State Of Rest filly (purchased for €85,000 at the Tattersalls Ireland September Yearling Sale) is 12lb clear of her nearest rival according to official figures, albeit she has a winner’s penalty to carry and others purchased for cheaper get a pull at the weights. She will be one of the shortest-priced favourites of the weekend.

Atlantic Bridge and Switching Sides could be the best of the rest from the home side, and it might be a case that Karl Burke, winner of this race 12 months ago, can take home a good share of the prize money with Mehmas Star. He was a promising enough second in a weak event at Carlisle on his only start. The experienced Alpe d’Huez could run well at a big price for Archie Watson and Colin Keane. (MB)

Red Letter was five and a half lengths behind her at Deauville and the introduction of a tongue-tie suggests why Ger Lyons’ filly ran below form.

She remains a strong each-way chance today, based on earlier placed efforts in defeat, including when third in the Pretty Polly Stakes over course and distance.

The Epsom Oaks winner Thundering On was half a length further back that day, over what was likely an inferior trip and faster ground than ideal.

This weekend will provide softer ground and her class gives her a strong chance, despite being better over a mile and a half.

The thrice-raced Lilt is the unknown quantity of the race, on her first start since finishing sixth, beaten four and three-quarter lengths, in the Prix de Diane won by Diamond Necklace. Haggas’ filly can be expected to improve from that effort; it’s just a question of how much. (AL)

Manton Bay has risen from a mark of 81 to 97 this season and looks capable of further progression as he returns to this trip. By Ulysses and out of a mile-and-a-half winner, he was last seen finishing second in the Irish Cambridgeshire, where he drew four and a half lengths clear of the third.

Sky Captain is another with a pedigree suited to this trip and considering his form over further, could be capable of making his presence felt on handicap debut, on his first start for Joseph O’Brien.

Retracement finished fourth to stablemate Shaool in last year’s running and while he has more weight to carry this time, his fine fourth to Thread Of Gold in the Nasrullah Handicap suggests he might be capable of running well off this mark

God Of Power is an appealing handicap debutant, particularly if Hazdann runs well in the Solonaway Stakes on Saturday, as there was a half a length between them last time out.

Adelaide River and Amadeus Mozart both have the ability to run well under big weights, but they’re not the most reliable. (AL)
