REST OF the CARD

1:45 IRISH STALLION FARMS EBF MARES HANDICAP HURDLE 2M 2F

This is always a fiercely-competitive contest and this year’s renewal is no different. Of the less exposed contenders, the one that makes the most appeal is the Noel Meade-trained Josephine Marcus. The five-year-old won a bumper at Wexford in April and while she didn’t show much in her first three starts over hurdles, she took a notable step forward on her handicap hurdle debut at Navan last time, only finding one too good. This shorter trip and sounder surface will suit and she seems sure to go close. Another one of interest is the Paul Nolan-trained Solita on her return from a short break.

Selection: JOSEPHINE MARCUS

Next Best: Solita

3:15 PADDY POWER ‘NUMBER 1 FOR LIVE STREAMING’ HANDICAP HURDLE 2M

This is a strong handicap hurdle and the form of the Boylesports Hurdle could well play a prominent role in this finish. The pick looks to be the Liz Doyle-trained Pairofbrowneyes with the six-year-old having run a stormer to finish sixth in the Boylesports Hurdle. He is entitled to come on from that and should make a bold bid. Of the less exposed runners, the Martin Brassil-trained Vent De La Cote is of interest on his hurdling debut following his impressive success in a maiden hurdle at Cork last time.

Selection: PAIROFBROWNEYES

Next Best: Vent De La Cote

4:20 RAYMOND SMITH MEMORIAL HUNTERS CHASE 3M

This is as intriguing a hunters chase as there has been for quite a while and it promises to be very informative. The Enda Bolger-trained On The Fringe is established at this level and seems sure to come on from his somewhat disappointing return at Down Royal. His stablemate Mossey Joe has promised much, but hasn’t delivered for his new connections yet. The Rodger Sweeney-trained Salsify was the leading hunter chaser of 2012/13, but he hasn’t been seen for over a year. All told, the one that makes the most appeal is the Willie Mullins-trained Prince De Beauchene following his impressive hunter chase debut at Thurles last month.

Selection: PRINCE DE BEAUCHENE

Next Best: On The Fringe

4:50 LEOPARDSTOWN CLUB MEMBERSHIP (PRO/AM) FLAT RACE 2M

Willie Mullins had some eye-catching entries for this race and he opts to rely on Potters Point. The son of Robin Des Champs has finished a close second in a point-to-point at Monksgrange and in a bumper at Naas. He appeals as being open to improvement and could well be suited by this shorter trip. Of his opposition, the Tony Martin-trained Lip Service made an eye-catching debut at this track last month and could well improve enough to go close.

Selection: POTTERS POINT

Next Best: Lip Service
