Ballyneety looked a nice prospect winning his maiden hurdle at Gowran Park where he was likely more value for a short winning margin. Third to Blackbow in bumper last season, he could take a high order among the novice hurdlers this season and can win today to continue his progression.

Count Simon can give him the most to do. He was well held last time out at Kilbeggan but was beaten by horses rated higher than him so wasn’t disgraced. He gets weight off the top two, which could prove significant.

Tornado Flyer makes his highly anticipated hurdles debut here, returning to the scene of his Grade 1 bumper win last season. However he’ll have to realise a fair amount of his potential to win first time up as he takes on a lot of promising horses, who already have the benefit of a hurdling experience. Cuneo makes a lot of appeal. Somewhat unlucky to lose his race when causing interference late on his debut over two miles and six furlongs at this track, he still ran with plenty of promise, and was trying to give weight away to Champion Bumper winner Relegate and Satoshi, who has run well since.

The Noel Meade-trained pair Dream Conti and School Boy Hours are also seriously considered, the latter preferred on account of his good run behind Borderline Chatho at Naas, from which he could well improve.

Curious Times looks really interesting here off a mark of 106. Stuart Crawford’s five-year-old wasn’t at all disgraced when sixth to a Gigginstown quintet in a maiden hurdle at Navan. That run was coming off a break, his first appearance since chasing home Canardier at Down Royal, with that runner now now rated 135.

Countess Cathleen is making her seasonal debut but she was in the process of running a really nice race in a Grade 3 hurdle when falling two out at Limerick on her previous run and she could be better than a mark of 115. Party Playboy ran well on his handicap debut here last time out and is also noted.

Getabird will be all the rage here for his chase debut. He is easily the best of these over hurdles and did some of his best work at this track, where he won his debut and the Grade 2 Moscow Flyer Novice Hurdle. He ought to go close to making a winning chase debut.

Call A Cab is an interesting contender. He is a lightly-raced and showed promise over hurdles, without getting close to Getabird’s level. Coming over fences should be more his game as he is a younger brother to Mala Beach and Bonny Kate.

Flynsini ran well in this race last season, finishing second off just a 3lb lower mark than what he races off today. It may well have always been the plan to come back for this contest and if so, he warmed up nicely with a good run to be fifth at Galway.

Cresus De Grissay ran well to finish second to subsequent scorer Peacock’s Secret at Wexford and he should go well if building on that while the consistent Se Mo Laoch (hit the frame on previous six runs) should run his usual solid race.

Santana Plessis is the last of the Gordon Elliott trio that dominated the Goffs Land Rover Bumper at this track last April, and if he can follow the lead of his stablemates, Commander Of Fleet and Column Of Fire, he’ll win nicely.

Noel Meade’s Cenotice can give him most to do but a sighter into the task facing him came in the form of his previous run, when he was beaten 19 lengths by Column Of Fire at Navan.
