Hurricane Darwin has had mixed fortunes over these banks in recent seasons, either coming to grief or reaching the podium. Formerly in the care of Alan Fleming, he now has his first start for Peter Maher, a man who commands plenty of respect with his runners in these races. If anywhere near his best form, the nine-year-old should go very close.
Yanworth is undoubtedly the class act in the lineup but has questions to answer following a below par display at Listowel. However, he remains very lightly raced and has time on his side so it may be premature to write him off just yet.

Harvest Bow sets a fair standard here having been second to a subsequent listed winner before easily winning last time.
She is a thorough stayer who has taken to hurdling, so appears to possess two of the main attributes for the winter game. She should represent value against a couple of more unexposed types.
Zarkareva won her only start in France before being bought by new connections. With imports from that country always worth a close look in the market, she is another who could play a leading role. The booking of Robbie Power suggests that a big run is anticipated.
SELECTION: HARVEST BOW

Stormy Ireland, a course and distance winner who will appreciate the small field, looks nicely treated at these weights. Willie Mullins’ five-year-old is a smart hurdler at her best and should make all the running here to get her season off to a winning start. It would be a surprise if she failed to get the job done without too much difficulty.
Eglantine Du Seuil, a stablemate of the selection, was a shock 50/1 winner at Cheltenham last season but proved that run to be no fluke with two solid runs in Grade 1 races subsequently. Should the likely market leader fail to perform, then she looks the one most likely to capitalise.
SELECTION: STORMY IRELAND
Next best: Eglantine Du Seuil

Future Proof ran well in a couple of decent maiden hurdles last season without managing to get his head in front. While it has been a similar story on the flat this summer, he gives the impression of being a well-handicapped horse when it does all come together. With a very capable young jockey taking 7lbs off his back, this could finally be his day to shine.
Drop The Anchor is a similarly unexposed hurdler who has been getting closer in maidens of late. A Listowel bumper winner last year, he has yet to show the same ability over hurdles but better can be expected how he enters handicap company.
SELECTION: FUTURE PROOF

Alpine Cobra faced no easy task when third behind the potentially top-class Andy Dufresne at Navan last weekend. Charles Byrnes horse jumped and travelled well, briefly looking like playing a bigger role, before weakening late on. While there now has to be a slight concern that this run is for a mark, he has the ability to win if everything falls into place.
Judex Lefou who has been second on his two most recent starts should once again be involved. Tom Mullins’ charge faces a big step up in trip here but has more experience than most and should make his presence felt once his stamina reserves hold out.
SELECTION: ALPINE COBRA
Next best: Judex Lefou
2.50 Liam & Valerie Brennan Memorial Florida Pearl Novice Chase (Grade 2) 2m 6f
Battleoverdoyen, one of the leading novice hurdlers last season, made an impressive start his chasing career at Galway recently. Making all and jumping with aplomb, Gordon Elliott’s horse indicated that he could go right to the top this year. Barring one disappointing effort at Cheltenham, his career has been foot perfect to date so he remains an exciting prospect for the future.
Any Second Now was disappointing on his comeback at Cork two weeks ago but is clearly much better than that run suggests. Winner of the Kim Muir Chase last March, he has plenty experience to call upon, something that most of his rivals have yet to gather.
SELECTION: BATTLEOVERDOYEN

Gwencily Berbas has run well on both starts since joining his new yard, including when placed in the Munster National last time. Eric McNamara does a great job with these staying chasers and this former Grade 2-winning hurdler looks to be on the way back.
If anything, this intermediate trip should prove ideal as the son of Nickname just weakened late on over further last time.
Punches Cross, who got back to winning ways at Wexford last time, looks the chief threat. The J.P. McManus-owned gelding had shown his best form at shorter before stepping up to 2m 4f recently. If he can eke further improvement at this new distance then he will make them all go.
SELECTION: GWENCILY BERBAS

Dewcup should prove very difficult to beat here as he bids to get back to winning ways. Successful in a Thurles bumper in March, he stepped up on that form to finish fourth in a Grade 2 contest at Aintree a few weeks later.
With Patrick Mullins a very significant booking, the signs are that the Michael Ryan-owned gelding is ready for this race.
Slige Dala was a fast-finishing second on his racecourse debut at Killarney when just failing to justify short odds. With the benefit of that experience and receiving all the allowances, he should be a player in this concluding race.
