After an overdue first win over hurdles at this venue three and a half weeks ago, Switch From Diesel looks poised to follow up in this small-field affair. The runner-up Salshina has won a maiden hurdle of her own since, and the selection offers a smart level of bumper and hurdles form from previous seasons.
Magico made a winning hurdles/stable debut for Willie Mullins at Killarney four weeks ago and Anna McGuinness’ 7lb claim ought to help bring him closer to the 125-rated Switch From Diesel. Magico is surely open to further improvement.
SELECTION: SWITCH FROM DIESEL

With five runs over fences to his name now, Park That should have the necessary experience to win a race of this nature and he could be on a decent mark of 115 when all comes together for him.
His second at Navan two starts ago was a solid showing, and he’s got winning form on yielding ground too from a Kilbeggan maiden hurdle last year. He’s also only a six-year-old.
Hashtag Pretender hasn’t been seen since finishing third to today’s rival Birdie Or Bust in a Listowel novice chase last September. However, Barry Connell proved last week with the returning Apple’s Of Bresil (winner at Kilbeggan) that he can get his troops ready to fire just fine off an absence.
SELECTION: PARK THAT

Wendrock struggled on bottomless ground at the Dublin Racing Festival and when down the field in the Martin Pipe at Cheltenham last time, but his previous fifth at the Leopardstown Christmas Festival was a sound effort and his juvenile hurdle form the previous season is good enough to win a beginners’ chase of this standard. Last year’s Fred Winter sixth, who won a Leopardstown Christmas Festival maiden hurdle that season, is worth another go at this longer trip.
Da Capo Glory is nearly twice the selection’s age but was probably a shade unlucky to bump into a back-on-song Butch Cassidy when second at Killarney last time. He’s good enough to win one of these but is arguably a shade vulnerable to an improver.
Kainsbourg lacks a recent run but has a definite squeak on his hurdles form, while the same owner’s Vicar Street has been off even longer but possibly has more untapped potential than any of these.
SELECTION: WENDROCK

A Year Older is chasing a third win in four starts (was sitting in second when falling four fences from home on his other run in that period) and he could still be dangerous off a mark of 92. He’s 5lb higher than when winning at Limerick in a weak event 16 days ago. That was over shorter than this, but he has winning form over further too.
Tiffiny’s Girl has been in terrific form in point-to-points/hunter chases, so she rates a fascinating player back in handicap company off a mark of 100. North Of Nashville is another with positive recent form, while Mistyburn was a bit of a surprise package over hurdles at Kilbeggan last time and is only 3lb higher over fences now.
SELECTION: A YEAR OLDER
Next best: Mistyburn

Easter Bonnet bolted up in an admittedly ordinary mares’ bumper here as 4/7 favourite on her debut last October but clearly wasn’t herself when reportedly losing her action and pulling up in a listed mares’ bumper at the Navan Racing Festival last November. She’s been given plenty of time to come right, switches back to ground that’s more like what she appreciated in her bumper win (possibly unsuited by heavy last time) and she’s from a smart family, being a half to blacktype performers such as Chart Topper and Pink In The Park.
Superficial wasn’t winning out of turn when landing a mile-and-a-half handicap at Roscommon 19 days ago. He needs big improvement from his first couple of hurdles starts but has winning potential in this sphere. Firebrand, Rosie’s Wings and Cailin Deas make the shortlist.
SELECTION: EASTER BONNET

Willie Mullins’ Livio shaped as though he’d be up to winning a maiden hurdle when third on his stable bow at Killarney 26 days ago. He’d been off for 589 days beforehand, having joined the champion trainer following a Grade 3 bumper win over a mile and a half at Lyon Parilly on debut, so natural progression is very possible.
Little Ginger landed a Kilbeggan bumper three weeks ago in the style of one with a decent future, though has since gone unsold in the sales ring at €58,000 in the interim. The runner-up from the Cork maiden hurdle that Sestini finished third in has won since, and Brian McMahon’s four-year-old is a likely improver anyway. Lizzie Twigg, Navy Waters and Coolishael all look capable of winning maiden hurdles in due course.
SELECTION: LIVIO

Angelo Dundee presumably hasn’t been the easiest to train, given he’s only run five times since a Punchestown Festival debut win aged four back in 2023 (has missed 373 days, 364 days and 336 days in between some of those appearances).
However, it must be viewed as encouraging that he’s now running for the second time in less than five weeks and he is in by far the weakest of the maiden hurdles on this card. Based on what he showed when third at Down Royal last month, he’ll appreciate the slight step up in trip too. Brother Walfrid was a little disappointing when fourth as even-money favourite in a Bellewstown bumper 11 days ago. However, his previous second to Colcannon at Fairyhouse and point-to-point runner-up effort put him back in the picture.
SELECTION: ANGELO DUNDEE

The consistent Working Class Hero bumped into an exciting prospect when second in a bumper here at the Festival, and then was only touched off by a head back at this venue three and a half weeks ago. If holding his form, he’ll be bang there with a reproduction of his best.
Gordon Elliott’s Returning Officer made a pleasing enough return when fifth at Kilbeggan behind Little Ginger, considering he’d been absent since February 2025. Dieux Diligence (Joseph O’Brien) and Iron Sword (Andy Slattery) are newcomers to take note of.
SELECTION: WORKING CLASS HERO
