Jack Kennedy sides with Wackestone over highly-rated flat recruit Barbizon. His ride has the benefit of a run over hurdles, having finished fourth when well-backed after 139 days off the track. The son of Australia should come on from that and may appreciate today’s shorter trip.
Barbizon’s pedigree features less stamina, but Gigginstown House Stud’s private purchase boasted plenty of class on the flat, earning an official rating of 101. Glen To Glen was useful up to 10 furlongs, but today’s trip and hurdles may bring out the best in McLoughlin, a son of Decorated Knight.
Closely related to group-winning stayer Yashin, Gavin Cromwell’s charge previously placed over a mile and a half on soft ground.
SELECTION: WACKESTONE
Next best: McLoughlin

Salsinha looked a smart mare when winning her bumper by nine lengths on debut in July and her trainer and jockey couldn’t be in better form.
Rich Ricci has spoken about his high hopes for Riskabahia in the past, and hopefully Willie Mullins’ French recruit has lost none of her promise since her sole start in September 2023. Her long absence may leave her at the mercy of more race-fit rivals, such as Grade 1 bumper runner-up Switch From Diesel, who won a flat maiden at the Curragh earlier this month.
Cool Native’s connections always warrant respect, though she has a lower profile than most of their point-to-point purchases. She may be better suited to hurdling, as may Saveforarainyday, who was well-backed on her sole start between the flags.
Doing It In Style and Zhanma Enki have been well-backed in the past and may redeem themselves switching to hurdles. Market support will be informative for the newcomers, including €90,000 store sale buy Walking Saint and Isitraininginparis, who is a home-bred half-sister to Grade 1-winning chaser Grangeclare West
SELECTION: SALSINHA

Truckers Cruising was running a decent race before falling at the final flight last time out. A promising fifth on his only prior start for Gordon Elliott, he looks capable of winning a race of this nature.
Cowper Hall was just touched off in the same race, beaten by what looked a well-treated handicap debutant. That was his first start since March and he can be expected to produce a stronger finish here.
Harley Street returned to form last time out, but this winter ground might not be to the flat-bred gelding’s liking. Globetrottersivola has dropped 2lb below his winning mark, but his two-year absence will be difficult to overcome.
SELECTION: COWPER HALL
Next best: Truckers Cruising

Walks In June shaped like a smart prospect on hurdle debut last month and should progress over today’s longer trip, when taking his pedigree and point-to-point education into account. A step up in trip made the difference for Eclipse Chaser last time, when he faced an unremarkable field, and the often well-backed five-year-old still has something to prove.
The Big Clubman’s winning hurdle bow and point-to-point second both boast smart form at this stage, suggesting he has a bright future ahead.
Gordon Elliott boasts a fine record in this race and Kalypso’chance, who was sent off favourite for the Cheltenham Champion Bumper, would have been a confident selection before his nine-length defeat on hurdle bow two weeks ago. He was found to be clinically abnormal that day, but it remains a worry.
SELECTION: WALKS IN JUNE

Josh Halford’s 7lb claim sees last year’s runner-up Sa Fureur reoppose 5lb better off. Stablemate Gringo d’Aubrelle is another intriguing prospect, as the unsuccessful chaser reverts to hurdles. His Challow Novices’ Hurdle third suggests he could be well-treated off a mark of 130.
It was a poor maiden hurdle that Reiki Revolution won on his first start for Gavin Cromwell, but the well-backed five-year-old couldn’t have won any easier and looks capable of progression in a first-time tonguestrap. This winter ground is an unknown, though. Kir is another unexposed type worth considering.
Artic Lane and Fighting Fit both showed promise on return at Galway last month, with extra credit given to Fighting Fit, who made most of the running under a slipped saddle.
SELECTION: SA FUREUR

Gordon Elliott has won seven of the last 11 runnings, but this year’s seven contenders have lower profiles than is typical. Fortunedefortunata is perhaps the most likely here, having won the Grand National Trial off 5lb lower in February, but was pulled up on return in the Cork National. These softer conditions may bring an improved effort.
The six-year-old Will The Wise is an attractive prospect and remains on a workable mark following his first chase win last month. He has shown stamina over hurdles, so this trip shouldn’t be a problem, and he’s won on heavy ground in the past.
Stablemate Aspurofthemoment is another who should enjoy the ground and trip, and comes here off the back of a fine third in the Munster National. Patrick O’Brien’s 5lb claim is another positive.
Sportinthepark was a smart winner of a rated novice chase over a year ago and remains unexposed over fences due to a long absence. He comes here fit from a hurdle win at Galway last month and earns a spot on the shortlist.
Answer To Kayf and Thyestes Chase runner-up Velvet Elvis should enjoy conditions here but these nine-year-olds may need the run on their seasonal return.
SELECTION: WILL THE WISE

It’s difficult to look beyond Final Demand, especially considering that the top novice hurdler previously proved his jumping in point-to-points. An imposing physical according to Willie Mullins, he has all the makings of a chaser.
Wingmen chased him home in the Leopardstown Grade 1 and looks likely to claim runner-up honours here. Gordon Elliott’s classy hurdler sold for £250,000 after winning his point-to-point by 12 lengths and has reportedly schooled well over fences at home since.
Butch Cassidy didn’t live up to the promise of his hurdle bow, but is open to improvement as a chaser. Grade 2-placed hurdler Karl Des Tourelles is another for the shortlist.
SELECTION: FINAL DEMAND

Hurricane Lane Irish EBF Mares INH Flat Race (Listed) 2m
Churchfield Annie, who represents last year’s winning connections, caught the eye on debut and lost little in a narrow defeat next time. However, this game mare isn’t obviously suited to heavy ground, and Patrick Mullins also suggested it wouldn’t suit Easter Bonnet either, when speaking after her debut win. Mullins’ choice of ride reflects negatively on their other representatives, Closutton and Some Pretender.
Brosna Shine went some way to justifying her €105,000 price tag when finishing third on debut in the Goffs Defender Bumper, having led them into the final furlong. That performance suggests that she should run well fresh on her seasonal reappearance here.
Caoimhe’s point-to-point win was full of promise and, while the form of Oldschool Outlaw’s Leopardstown second hasn’t worked out brilliantly, Harry Swan presumably saw enough promise for her to join Gordon Elliott this season.
