2.00 NAVAN WELCOMES OWNERS TODAY HANDICAP (47-70) 5F 182YDS

Deeds Not Words has to contend with top weight but he is still competing off a mark well short of his career high rating of 97 and he looks capable of making his mark at this level. He shaped like a future winner when beaten just under 6l into fifth by Mr Right in a 6f handicap at the Curragh two weeks ago and this race does represent a drop in class. Battleoftheboyne shaped up well on his recent comeback at Cork when he was third to A Few Dollars More and he should have more to offer following that run. The ground will be fine for him and he was a close third in this last year. Enter The Red struggled to make an impact in that same Cork race but his form last season would entitle him to play a leading role.

Following a promising debut at the Curragh, Sixtysix could be the one to side with. This daughter of Dandy Man travelled nicely throughout the race before eventually finishing a 4l third to The McGregornator. That initial experience can be relied upon to bring her forward and a previous run counts for a lot in two-year-old races at this time of year. Furthermore the ground here is unlikely to be as testing as it was at the Curragh and that should also help. Cuff is a Galileo own-sister to a number of classy runners including Mars and the Silver Flash Stakes heroine Wonderfully. She is an obvious contender. Oh Grace and Blue Bahia, who is a half-sister to the very useful Rivellino, are newcomers of note from top yards.

Queen Blossom made a splendid start to the season when winning the Group 3 Park Express Stakes at the Curragh last month, defeating last year’s Irish 1000 Guineas third Devonshire. The benefit of a previous run this season gives her a significant edge and she promises to do even better at this trip while she sets a good standard with a rating of 107. Best In The World won the Listed Silken Glider Stakes over 1m at the Curragh last October. Found’s younger sister will be right at home stepping up to this trip and expect a strong showing from her. Emergent is a fascinating contender as she looked a potentially smart sort when making a winning debut here in October. She will be closely involved.

3.40 COME TO THE FAMILY DAY MAY 15th HANDICAP 1M 2F

It has already been an industrious 2016 for Ineffable and he looks to have a good chance of notching up his third victory of the year. This improving gelding coped well with the switch to testing ground when landing a 1m 2f handicap at Leopardstown last week. He is 6lb higher as a result of that ½l win over Love In The Sun but might just have had a little more to spare than the result of that race would suggest. Dewdrop lacks the advantage of a recent outing but should certainly win races this year and her final outing last season saw her finish a 4l second to Verbosity in a 1m Cork nursery. Prove The Point ran well to finish second to Va Pensiero at Leopardstown last week but is now stepping up markedly in trip.

Selection: INEFFABLE

Onenightidreamed has a Group 3 penalty but he still makes considerable appeal as he looks to follow up his recent Gladness Stakes triumph. This lightly-raced five-year-old has his ideal conditions once more and the return to this trip will suit him very well. He is chosen ahead of Brendan Brackan who ended last season on a high with victory in the Navigation Stakes at Cork in October. Brendan Brackan is a very effective performer at this level and warrants the utmost respect despite lacking the advantage of a recent run. Joailliere has begun her season with third place finishes in both the Park Express and the Gladness – finishing 1½l adrift of Onenightidreamed last time out. She has solid prospects once more and this trip might suit her better than the Gladness second Flight Risk.

Following her encouraging return to action at Cork last month, Creme De La looks to be lining up with a very solid chance. She showed promise on her sole outing last season before reappearing to finish a 2¼l second to Jet Setting at Cork. The form of that race has since received a tremendous boost with Jet Setting going on to win the Group 3 1000 Guineas Trial at Leopardstown on Sunday. Earring is a newcomer of major interest as a daughter of Dansili out of the top class Together who ran a succession of fine races in top company at two and three.

5.15 KILBERRY (C&G) MAIDEN 1M

Aasheq should take plenty of beating following his excellent debut effort at the Curragh earlier this month. On that occasion the Dermot Weld-trained son of Dubawi lost out by ¾l to leading Epsom Derby contender US Army Ranger in a 1m 2f maiden. The drop back in trip isn’t a concern, particularly over a stiff mile such as this, and he is taken to see off The Gurkha. The latter looked as though he would improve substantially for the experience when finishing an encouraging third to stablemate Claudio Monteverdi in a mile maiden at Leopardstown last week. He does represent a very credible threat to the selection.

Captainofthefleet is a hopeful choice. This nine-year-old has the trip and ground to suit and he comes here off an encouraging second to Last Goodbye in a 2m 3f handicap hurdle at Cork over Easter. Furthermore he has dropped 6lb since he was last in action on the flat. Elm Grove was slapped with a 16lb hike in the weights for her 14l triumph at Gowran Park last week. The trip is an unknown but this former course winner does command the utmost respect.
