12.30 Irish EBF Auction Series Maiden 5f 180yd

Recent Bellewstown runner-up Star Of Sapphire has strong claims of going one better. Always prominent, the Noel Meade-trained filly led over two furlongs from home and, only for understandably showing greenness, she may well have beaten the short-priced favourite. Entitled to have come on for the experience, the daughter of Starman looks the one to beat.

Twice-raced The Right One looks one of the more likely winners. Second on her introduction at Cork in May, the Jarlath Fahey-trained filly ran a similar sort of race when fifth at Down Royal subsequently. Given the benefit of those experiences, the U S Navy Flag juvenile is a leading contender.

SELECTION: STAR OF SAPPHIRE

Runner-up on his last two starts, the Ger Lyons-trained Washington Street has strong claims. A prominent runner, the three-year-old has yet to race over a trip this short, but has given the impression that it could really suit, especially on a stiff track such as this. Nicely drawn in the high numbers, he can make most under Jack Kearney.

Sun Soldier, who finished a place behind the selection at the Curragh last time, should again be a threat. The Andy Oliver-trained gelding had made a pleasing debut when second at this track on his previous start.

1.40 GAIN The Advantage Series Handicap 5f 180yd

With the David Marnane stable in rude health, Tipperary fourth This Ain’t Texas is taken to reverse form with the winner Skillman Avenue.

Outpaced in the initial stages of that contest, the Bated Breath gelding stayed on nicely inside the final furlong to be beaten just over a length. On these revised terms, he has every chance of improving past the winner.

Skillman Avenue made virtually all the running to open her account in that Tipperary contest. Despite having a bit more to do now off 5lb higher, the Gavin Cromwell-trained filly has to be respected in her bid to follow up.

Last year’s runner-up Only Spoofing can go one better off a 13lb-lower mark. A great money-spinner over the years, the Kevin Coleman-trained veteran has run some of his best races at this track.

A winner off 2lb higher at Musselburgh in April, the 11-year-old retains plenty of ability at this level despite his advancing years.

Bellewstown winner My Girl Sioux has to be respected in her follow-up bid. While the handicapper appears to have been rather harsh with an 8lb rise, time may show that the Andy Slattery-trained mare was worthy of such a hike.

SELECTION: ONLY SPOOFING

The Johnny Murtagh-trained Nautical Force sets a fair standard. A maiden winner at Cork in April, the gelding finished second in a winners’ race subsequently.

Following an excellent fourth placing in the King George V Stakes at Royal Ascot last month, the three-year-old is now rated 100. It will take a smart performance to lower his colours here.

Rock Of Cashel has been highly tried since winning his maiden at the Galway Festival. Back in calmer waters here, the Aidan O’Brien-trained colt has every chance of adding to his sole career victory. On official ratings, he only has 1lb to find with Nautical Force.

SELECTION: NAUTICAL FORCE

Next best: Rock Of Cashel

3.25 Navan Adventure Centre Apprentice Handicap 1m 2f 40yd

Bellewstown winner Daonethatgotaway can follow up under Keithen Kennedy. A consistent gelding, the Mark Fahey-trained five-year-old is a hard horse for the handicapper to get to grips with. Given that the son of Tamayuz never wins by very far, he can’t be hit too hard for winning his races. He can register a fifth career win.

Handicap debut Red King has to be respected in his first foray into this company. Andy Oliver’s lightly-raced three-year-old ran his best race to date when second at Leopardstown last month.

4.00 Best Of Luck To Meath In The All-Ireland Semi-Finals Handicap 1m 2f 40yd

Narrowly denied on her reappearance last season, Warazam could be one to side with first time up. The Jarlath Fahey-trained four-year-old reached the frame on three occasions subsequently, but has yet to register a first win. Back from a break, off 3lb lower than her last run, the daughter of Elzaam is taken to make the breakthrough.

Chopsticks has had a lot more opportunities than Warazam to get his head in front, albeit so far without success. Having just his third start for trainer John McConnell, the gelding has to be considered.

SELECTION: WARAZAM
