2.00 IRISH STALLION FARMS EBF MAIDEN 5F 182YDS

Soffia can build on a promising debut run at Naas last month. On that occasion the Kyllachy filly showed up well to be beaten just under 3l into fourth by Powersville and she looked as though she would be all the better for that initial outing. A maiden success should be well within her reach. Royal Navy Warship has finished down the field on his first two runs but he wasn’t beaten all that far last time and first time blinkers could enable him to take a step forward.

Selection: SOFFIA

This might see Gobi Desert turn around recent Blenheim Stakes form with Brick By Brick. The Oasis Dream colt looked a good prospect when winning a 7f Curragh maiden on his debut but he seemed to struggle on the testing ground when going down by 2¾l in the Blenheim. The better ground that he will encounter here should aid his cause. Brick By Brick must be considered a major threat along with the Coventry Stakes fourth Brother Bear who is capable of much better than he showed when finishing sixth in last month’s National Stakes.

Selection: GOBI DESERT

3.05 WATERFORD TESTIMONIAL STAKES (LISTED) 5F 182YDS

Son Of Rest looks more than good enough to make his mark at this level. Already this season the three-year-old has shown some good form and he comes here off a fine effort in the Flying Five Stakes at the Curragh last month where he finished out his race in good style to take third behind Caravaggio.

This longer trip should suit him and he is preferred to Alphabet. That one finished down the field in last weekend’s Prix de l’Abbaye but her previous second place finishes to Quiet Reflection and Caravaggio are particularly strong pieces of form.

Selection: SON OF REST

Next best: Alphabet

3.40 ROYAL COUNTY HANDICAP 5F 182YDS

She has been running well in defeat lately and Free To Roam deserves to get her turn at this level. Last time out she chased home Landline in a sprint handicap at Tipperary and that effort was preceded by a second to Count Of Carabass in a 6f handicap at Listowel.

The trip is slightly further than what she encountered at Tipperary which could aid her cause. A Likely Story was only sixth at Tipperary but his second to Handsome Maverick at the Curragh in August is an effort that gives him every chance of being closely involved.

Selection: FREE TO ROAM

Next best: A Likely Story

4.10 NAVANRACECOURSE.IE HANDICAP 5F

Enter The Red has been a credit to his connections this season and, on his favoured easy ground, he might be able to notch up another success. A wide draw isn’t a concern at this track and the gelding comes here off a fine run in a premier handicap at Naas last month when he was beaten 2l into third by the English raider Tylery Wonder. He is preferred to the reliable Ice Cold In Alex whose recent placed runs behind Duplication and Magic Bear would indicate that he is quite capable of making his presence felt.

Selection: ENTER THE RED

Next best: Ice Cold In Alex

4.45 STAFFORDSTOWN STUD STAKES (LISTED) 1M

On ratings she has something to find with several of these rivals but Bye Bye Baby has been coming forward nicely in her recent runs and she appeals as being good enough to make her mark at this level.

She bounced back from a last gasp defeat at Leopardstown last month to win a decent looking 7f Newmarket maiden last weekend and there could easily be more to come from her. The experienced Sizzling was second to Ellthea in a Naas Group 3 last time having previously shown up well in a Doncaster Group 2. She is a very solid contender.

Selection: BYE BYE BABY

Next best: Sizzling

5.15 IRISH CESAREWITCH 2M

Gustavus Vassa is a speculative choice to enhance Willie Mullins’ formidable record in this race. The three-year-old is making his debut for Mullins and in three runs he has yet to race beyond 1m 2f. However, it is fascinating that connections are upping him to this trip and his stable’s record in races of this nature is such that he commands the utmost respect.

He might have most to fear from another three-year-old in Abyssinian who has won two of his three outings. This colt won his maiden over 1m 4f before dropping back to 1m 3f to bag a conditions race but this trip could ultimately show him off to best effect.

Selection: GUSTAVUS VASSA

Next best: Abyssinian

5.45 NEW TROYTOWN BAR APPRENTICE HANDICAP 1M

A hopeful vote goes to Try Again who has held his form well from the start of the year. Already a four-time winner this year, he showed that further success could come his way when he was third to Pincheck in a useful 1m Naas handicap a couple of weeks ago.

Queluz was only seventh at Galway last time but that was his first run back from a mid-season break and he was in excellent heart earlier in the campaign. He is not one to underestimate.

Selection: TRY AGAIN

Next best: Queluz
