Weseekhimhere looks a solid option. He was a quality sort in bumpers last term when he won at Galway and Listowel before finishing off his season with a good third in a listed event at Cheltenham in November.

On his first run since then he returned with a pleasing fourth in a useful looking Roscommon maiden won by Ciel D’Afrique last month and he should be all the better for that run. He can overcome a lack of previous jumping experience to deal with Luke Short who is also starting out over hurdles.

The latter is a smart flat horse and ran a huge race to be beaten just over half a length into fifth in the Northfields Handicap at the Curragh last Sunday. He is a potentially smart recruit to hurdling.

SELECTION: WESEEKHIMHERE

She is at a disadvantage in terms of overall experience but Apple Crumble makes plenty of appeal and looks reasonably treated off a mark of 116 for her handicap debut.

After winning a Punchestown bumper at 25/1 on her racecourse debut she bounced back from a defeat on her hurdling debut to bolt up in a 2m 2f novice hurdle at Kilbeggan last month.

In her brief career to date she has shown enough to suggest that she would be up to getting blacktype and she can overcome her inexperience. Ashqar is an interesting rival.

He ran well to finish second to Excelcius in a flat handicap at Clonmel last time and his second to Hallowed Star in a handicap hurdle at Galway is another good effort. He should go close. The reliable Rock On Seamie is another with prospects as is Make My Heart Fly who ran a good fourth to Nodoubtaboutthat in a competitive mares handicap hurdle at Galway.

Shantou Lucky is a hopeful choice to record his second success of the season. He struck at Down Royal on the opening day of the campaign and is easily forgiven a poor effort at Clonmel next time as he was found to be blowing hard post-race.

On his return from almost three months off he ran a respectable fifth to Baltinglass Hill at Ballinrobe last month and he could easily do better again here. Tango Theatre would look an obvious contender after posting a much improved effort to chase home Favori Logique at Downpatrick last month.

The latter has more than done his bit to frank the form subsequently and a similar effort should see Tango Theatre involved. Pretty Little Liar and General Moriviere are others to keep in mind.

This would look a good opportunity for Chemical Energy to make a successful start over hurdles.

He wasn’t at his best at Cheltenham on his last start but had previously looked one of the better bumper horses seen out last season as evidenced by wins at Roscommon and Down Royal before finishing fourth to Kilcruit in a Grade 2 at Leopardstown in February. He should make up into a useful hurdler this season and this trip shouldn’t be a problem for him.

Rebel Rose might be the one that gives him most to do. She won a Limerick bumper in April and has since shown up well in maiden hurdles, chasing home Lunar Display at Tipperary before then filling the runner-up spot behind Il Courra at Kilbeggan.

Tullybeg has to give weight all round but he looks capable of adding to his haul. He made a bright start to his season when winning a 3m conditions event at Down Royal and he bounced back from a below par effort over fences at Kilbeggan to show up well on his return to hurdles at Down Royal. He enjoys good ground and his rider claims a useful 5lbs which earns him the vote over Born Patriot.

The latter won a 2m 6f maiden hurdle at Punchestown last season and also showed up well behind the smart Frontal Assault at Thurles in December. He also ran well in a Killarney handicap in May when he was last in action. He can be placed to further advantage over hurdles.

A speculative choice is Mutual Respect who has run just a handful of times and possibly has more room for improvement than most of his rivals.

He was returning from almost 11 months off the track when making his handicap debut at Galway last week and he ran a fine race to be beaten just over 4l into fourth by Farrawaybay. He can surely progress from that outing and can deal with Yamato who ran at the same Galway fixture and showed up well to take second in a handicap won by Tullyhogue Fort.

Emma Prada is another with prospects while it wouldn’t come as any surprise if Cast Iron were to improve on what he has shown so far.

Eldorado has several bits of form that give him a chance and he could be one to side with. On his last outing he ran a respectable third to Clondaw Hollow in a maiden hurdle at Downpatrick and he could easily do better over this trip.

In addition, he looks well-treated on his third in a Downpatrick maiden hurdle last autumn in which The Shunter defeated Tullybeg. A repeat of that form would see him take all the beating. Hymie Weiss is interesting in first-time blinkers.

He won a Kilbeggan maiden hurdle in the stewards’ room back in April before then losing the race again on appeal and he returned from a number of months off to run a respectable third to Gateau De Miel at Downpatrick several weeks ago. He shouldn’t be far away.

One Last Tango is a solid sort who deserves to get his turn in a bumper. He finished well to take second in a Killarney bumper won by San Salvador last month and he followed that with a three-quarter-length second to Watergrange Jack at Kilbeggan recently.

He can put his experience to good use and he is preferred to the newcomer Ted Hastings who won a point-to-point bumper at Dromahane on his debut in May. Conna Cottage is another who showed plenty on his sole point-to-point outing in May and is another to consider.

Dads Lad struggled at Galway last time but is better than he showed there and a solid showing from him is entirely possible.

SELECTION: ONE LAST TANGO

Next Best: Ted Hastings
