Fillies Maiden 5f 205yd

Having reached the frame on all three previous starts, the Donnacha O’Brien-trained Josh’s Joy can register a first win. A daughter of Wootton Bassett, the filly has been unfortunate to bump into a couple of subsequent black type horses in her maidens. With nothing of that calibre in this contest, she is taken to get her head in front.

Well supported prior to disappointing on her introduction at Dundalk recently, Institute is almost certainly capable of better. Despite her pedigree, the Aidan O’Brien-trained Frankel filly could be suited to dropping back to this trip on her second start.

The Aidan O’Brien-trained Savile Row can shed his maiden tag at the fourth time of asking. Runner-up over course and distance on his penultimate outing, the No Nay Never colt again ran a big race when fourth at the Curragh last time. Given his experience, it would be no great surprise to see him jump out and make all the running.

Strike Zone has also shaped well enough in two runs to date to suggest he can win his maiden. The Ger Lyons-trained colt stepped up on a promising debut at Navan, when finishing runner-up at Cork last month.

Course and distance winner Madbadanddangerous can make it back-to-back wins here. Runner-up to Redemption Road on his debut at Tipperary in August, the gelding caught the eye with his finishing effort to get within half-a-length of the winner. He delivered on that promise next time, when opening his account at this track.

Redemption Road is unlikely to be far away. The David Marnane-trained gelding arguably stepped up on that Tipperary run, when second in a winners’ race at Listowel last time.

William Haggas, who has been very successful with his raids at this track in recent months, can strike with Abloom. A winner of her latest two starts, the Night Of Thunder filly looks ready for this step up in class. Although on bare ratings, she has a bit to find with the principals here, there is almost certainly more to come.

Swelter has to concede weight and overcome a wide draw but is undoubtedly the class angle here. Trained by Dermot Weld, the Juddmonte owned filly won a Group 3 at Leopardstown in March, before finishing down the field in the Irish 1000 Guineas last time.

SELECTION: ABLOOM

Winner of her last two starts, the John O’Donoghue-trained It’s A Heartbeat can complete the hat-trick. Successful in her maiden at the Curragh in June, the Too Darn Hot filly looked a group horse in a handicap when following up at that same track last time. Raised 11lb subsequently, that form received a boost when the runner-up landed a premier handicap next time.

Having been campaigned at a higher level for much of the season, Island Hopping should find this easier. With an official rating of 104, the Aidan O’Brien-trained Wootton Bassett filly sets the standard.

4.20 Colm White Bookmaker Beggar’s End Handicap 2m 7yd

Grade-1 placed over hurdles, the Jessica Harrington-trained Jetara looks fairly handicapped in this code. A maiden winner on the flat last November, the form of that race looks strong, with the second now rated 99. Following a nice effort when runner-up at the Listowel Festival last month, the seven-year-old should be at her peak.

A real credit to connections, the veteran Lord Erskine has every chance. Harry Rogers’ 12-year-old had a number of these in behind when a fast finishing fourth in the Irish Cesarewitch last time. He is likely to confirm that form here.

Convincing has strong claims of overturning recent Gowran Park form with a pair that finished ahead of him. Held up in rear, the Ciaran Murphy trained gelding had plenty to do entering the straight but kept on strongly inside the final furlong. Now that connections know he stays this far, the four-year-old is likely to be ridden more prominently. Positive Energy, who finished runner-up when sent off favourite for that Gowran race, has to be a threat. Although a wide draw is a slight negative, jockey Shay Wallace can take his time, before coming with his challenge from off the pace.

SELECTION: CONVINCING

5.30 Flat Finale At Naas Fillies Handicap 1m 2f 125yd

Listowel runner-up Annie’s Angel can step up a place here. A lightly raced daughter of Dark Angel, the Joseph O’Brien-trained filly has scope for further improvement. With the blinkers, which seemed to rekindle her interest last time, retained for this run, it would be a surprise if the three-year-old wasn’t involved.

Despite a record of one win from 23 starts, Narlita shaped well enough last time to be of interest. Trainer Harry Rogers could hardly have his string in better form and the six-year-old is a decent mare when at her best.

SELECTION: ANNIE’S ANGEL
