1.50 PADDY POWER CHELTENHAM TRIAL SUNDAY 21st FEBRUARY MAIDEN HURDLE 2M
Babbling Stream gets the vote. Since making a winning debut at Limerick last year he has posted a couple of solid efforts in winner’s bumpers which include a third to Death Duty at Navan two months ago.
On that occasion he finished five and a half lengths behind the subsequent maiden hurdle winner Our Duke and he should take beating if running to a similar standard here.
All Souls reached the frame in five of his six flat runs in France and he won a 1m 7f claimer at Fontainebleau in September.
He has shown himself to be quite at home on soft ground and is an interesting rival. King Of Aragon is respected having been placed on his first two runs over timber while Unyielding, who was rated 83 when last in action on the flat, is another that could run well.
SELECTION: BABBLING STREAM

2.20 BBA IRELAND LIMITED OPERA HAT MARES CHASE (LISTED) 2M
A chance is taken on Carrigmoorna Rock. A Grade 3 and listed winner over hurdles, she got off the mark on her second chase outing over 2m 4f at Thurles last month when comfortably accounting for Uranna by two and a half lengths.
This is an altogether better race and she does have to contend with a drop in trip but there is definitely more to come from her over fences. Furthermore her Thurles outing was her first for three months.
Gitane Du Berlais will take beating but she has to concede a stone to Carrigmoorna Rock. Last season she showed an excellent level of form to win the Grade 1 Scilly Isles Novices Chase and a Grade 3 contest at Auteuil.
She hasn’t reached those heights this term though and is dropping back in distance. The likeable Grade 3 scorer Queens Wild is also respected.
SELECTION: CARRIGMOORNA ROCK
Next best: Gitane Du Berlais

Fairly Legal can improve on his two placed runs over timber. On his racecourse debut he was third to Okotoks in a Cork maiden and last time out he lost out by a neck to Hurry Henry over two miles at this track early last month.
The form of that last run is looking solid as the third has won since and the fourth and fifth both finished second on their next outings. In addition this longer trip could aid Fairly Legal’s cause. Haymount certainly deserves to win a maiden hurdle as his recent form includes a neck second to Royal Caviar and a one and a half length second to Edwulf over this course and distance last month.
He is a live threat and so too is Call It Magic who was beaten just eight lengths into third by the subsequent Grade 2-placed Acapella Bourgeois in a Leopardstown maiden over Christmas.
SELECTION: FAIRLY LEGAL
Next best: Haymount
3.20 HOSPITALITY AT NAAS HANDICAP CHASE 2M
A speculative vote goes to Unzing who could have an appreciably better chance than his recent form implies. He fell last time out and was unable to get closely involved at Limerick prior to that. However, his first run back in Ireland was an encouraging one as he was beaten just under 14 lengths into sixth in a decent handicap chase at Punchestown won by Sumos Novios. The form of that race looks very solid and if Unzing could run to a similar level here he will not be far away.
Treat Yourself hasn’t won a race for two years but he has posted a number of solid efforts in the intervening period. His third to Nearly Nama’d and Minella Foru in a quality two mile handicap chase at Fairyhouse in November is an especially strong piece of form in the context of this race.
SELECTION: UNZING

Alisier D’Irlande can bounce back from a fall on his chasing debut at Fairyhouse last month. The six-year-old raced very freely from the front that day but still looked to be in control at the time of his depature in race that eventually went to McKinley. Alisier D’Irlande was running for the first time in 10 months at Fairyhouse so he should have improved as a result of that outing. Furthermore his wide margin maiden hurdle triumph last season indicated that he was a horse of considerable promise.
Never Enough Time, who was third in that Fairyhouse race, and the 120-rated Indian File should be up to challenging for a place in the frame. Wes Hardin could show up well now that his attentions are switched to chasing.
SELECTION: ALISIER D’IRLANDE

He has yet to win over timber and has been somewhat frustrating to follow at times but Balkinstown makes most appeal here. On his last outing he had to settle for fifth behind Angus Milan at Down Royal but a better effort is his third to Tully East in a novice handicap at Punchetown in November and a repeat of that display might suffice. Ballyroe Rambler makes obvious appeal on his last run which saw him finish a three and a half length second to Go Paddy Go in a handicap hurdle at this track last month.
