It hasn’t quite clicked for Murcia since recording a Grade 1 win at the Aintree Grand National Festival in 2025, but she has notched some promising handicap runs in recent months, most notably when fourth at the Dublin Racing Festival, and she had an excuse when disappointing at the Punchestown Festival last time (reportedly showing signs of coming into season). She’s the highest-rated runner in the line-up and can take advantage of having her sights lowered now.

Royal Hollow is rated 10lb behind the selection, though she does receive 8lb of a pull at the weights-and that will bring her closer. Run For Mahler has a little more work to do on the official figures and is back from a 218-day break. If she happened to be supported in a fashion that suggested she was sharp for her comeback, she could give main players a scare.

An impressive bumper winner on debut for Andy Slattery at last year’s Galway Festival, Gomez Addams wasn’t quite as good in a Leopardstown Christmas Festival bumper when making his first start for Henry de Bromhead. He’s been given plenty of time since, though, and this doesn’t look a red-hot race for a lightly raced youngster with potential like him.

Touch The Moon arrives here with a hurdles mark of 118, which will be good enough to win most maiden hurdles at this time of year. He’s entitled to come forward from his recent flat second at Leopardstown. Joseph O’Brien’s Small Fry has a similar mark of 116. Although progress will be required from what he showed last time at Down Royal when fourth, he could take a good step forward given he hadn’t been seen since October.

Speed For Fun debuts over hurdles for Willie Mullins, having been rated 74 on the flat in France and notched his sole win from nine starts in a 10-furlong maiden at Compiegne in April 2025. The €40,000 purchase is back from 337 days off, which is never a big concern coming from this stable, and it will be worth following how the market interprets his chance.

Jack Owen Jack wasn’t beaten far in his two bumper starts and ought to be firmly on the premises again. Burning Ability and Royal Approval both have the capability to win maiden hurdles in due course.

After defeat over three miles last time at Kilbeggan, returning to this mid-range trip looks a good fit for Sean Mc, having previously won over two and a half miles at Wexford on his penultimate start. Alan O’Sullivan’s 7lb claim helps offset the fact he’s the joint top-weight, and he looks more consistent than most of his rivals.

There are some capable enough opponents in the line-up for a race of this nature, though. Tellmemamema was a minor eye-catcher last time, Mollys Dolly showed some spark at Wexford a fortnight ago, King Ferdinand is nicely down in grade and Illtakehimmyself was only just touched off last time. Jay Pee M isn’t out of the equation either.

As long as his confidence hasn’t been dented after coming down at the second last at Killarney 19 days ago, Elusive Ogie looks one with the potential to strike off his mark of 114. He was cruising into contention last time when coming down on the landing side of two out, and his local trainer often targets this track.

Chanceawetmorning has won both starts since joining Gordon Elliott and, despite a 7lb nudge for last time, he still looks one who’ll be competitive with his confidence high. High Court Cave has a race like this in his locker too, and this represents a calmer assignment than last time at Punchestown. The versatile Hamsiyann is dangerous to discount too.

Silent Guardian was beaten when sent back on the flat last time, but he had previously collected at Clonmel in the style of one who could go in again. Yes, he’s up 9lb for that and the ground will be much quicker here. That said, his early flat form for Emmet Mullins suggests he’ll cope fine with a sounder surface.

Somersby Roost struck in decisive fashion at Cork last time too, while Only For Our Man comes here on a roll.

Being by Walk In The Park and out of the mighty four-time Grade 1 winner Benie Des Dieux, The President is entitled to a tentative vote on her debut. She doesn’t have the experience of some of her rivals and the market will be informative, but she is clearly bred in the purple.

Tell The Boys has the benefit of two solid runs behind her and that should be a nice asset in this company. Gavin Cromwell’s Sholokov newcomer Velvet Ash is worth watching closely, while Vadique (by Vadamos) from the Emmet Mullins yard must also be respected.
