1.55 TINY GIANTS PLAY LIVE AT LIMERICK RACECOURSE JUNE 16TH MAIDEN HURDLE 2M

Jetez hasn’t been at his best lately but he is worth taking a chance on. Some of his previous form over hurdles would indicate that he will have little difficulty winning a maiden and his good second to Flawless Escape at Leopardstown at Christmas is one such effort. He was a well held favourite behind Pallasator at Leopardstown two months ago but even that form looks solid in light of the subsequent efforts of the first two. He is chosen ahead of the hurdling newcomer Katie Connell who looked a mare with a nice future when she made a winning debut in a Cork bumper last July. Savannah Storm disappointed last time but his previous second to I Am Sailing in a Navan maiden hurdle puts him into contention.

Selection: JETEZ

Next best: Katie Connell

This could see Chisholm Trail make a winning start over hurdles. She began her career with two solid runs in quality bumpers and she then got off the mark in quite a reasonable event at Wexford earlier this month. The form she has shown so far would indicate that she will have little difficulty scoring over hurdles and she gets the vote over Bang Bang Rosie. The latter has an edge in terms of experience and she too is certain to run well in a maiden hurdle at some stage. On her last start she was beaten just ¾l into second by Moonlight Escape at Cork over Easter.

Selection: CHISHOLM TRAIL

Oakfield Rose might be able to defy top weight. She has winning form on both heavy and good ground so the conditions won’t be an issue for her and she has been running creditably despite being 8lbs higher than when last successful. On her most recent start she finished third in a red hot Sligo handicap hurdle which was dominated by two very well handicapped types in Lord Erskine and The Last Indian. She is meeting nothing of their quality on this occasion. Its Only A Dream has yet to make a major impact over hurdles but he did show ability to be placed in a good ground Killarney bumper this time last year and he might find this ground more suitable than what he encountered on his handicap debut at Fairyhouse in November.

Selection: OAKFIELD ROSE

A hopeful vote goes to the course and distance winner Allez Kal. She finished a respectable fifth in a 1m 4f flat maiden last week but this test should suit better and as a daughter of Kalanisi out of an Old Vic mare there is every chance that she will cope with this quicker ground. After winning her handicap at this track she went on to run well in defeat behind the likes of Poormans Hill and Lackaneen Leader and those performances would indicate that she can win again in this sphere. An’ball commands plenty of respect as he looks to improve on his 2l second to the well treated Humm Baby at Sligo earlier this month. Benefit Of Magic is another likely contender after being beaten less than 1l into third by Castafiore Park at Wexford a fortnight ago.

Selection: ALLEZ KAL

Rashaan is a quality hurdler at his best and he has the potential to make up into a very smart sort over fences. He is a Grade 2 and Grade 3 winner over hurdles and he looked as good as ever on his return to action on the flat at Clonmel earlier this month when he ran out a 2l winner of a useful 2m handicap off a mark of 89. He could have most to fear from another chasing newcomer in Morgan. The latter was a smart three-time winner over hurdles and performed with credit at last month’s Punchestown Festival when he finished out his race in good style to be beaten 6l into fifth by True Self in a quality 2m handicap hurdle. That last effort would suggest that he might be suited by stepping up in trip.

Selection: RASHAAN

A chance is taken on Thanks For Tea who turns out quickly following a brave second place finish in Monday’s Killarney National. She is dropping back markedly in trip but she has winning form at around this distance, she will enjoy the ground and she does look well treated by the race conditions. Asthuria needs to bounce back from a seventh place finish behind Supreme Vinnie at Punchestown on Wednesday evening. However, she is certainly better than she showed there as a strong pace may have played its part in her defeat. She had previously posted a series of good runs against quality opposition and the return to this trip could work in her favour.

Selection: THANKS FOR TEA

Don’t Let Go can notch up a deserved success after posting a series of honourable efforts in defeat. She has been placed on her three starts since moving into handicap chases and last time out she was beaten on the line when going down by a short head to Take The Cash at Kilbeggan. She has crept up 6lbs in the ratings as a result of that series of placed runs but that shouldn’t prevent her from mounting a strong challenge for victory. Se Mo Laoch comes here off two solid runs on testing ground but the switch to a better surface isn’t of any concern as he won on good ground last summer. He should be closely involved. Hard Bought and Kilganer Queen are two others that could run well.

Selection: DON’T LET GO

Gallowglass began his career with a promising effort in defeat at Clonmel two months ago when he was beaten 2¼l into second by Castlebawn West. That showing indicated that he might be up to making his mark in a bumper and a combination of a switch to better ground and his rider’s very useful 7lbs claim entitle him to mount a strong challenge for victory.

He is preferred to the Roscommon bumper winner Champagne Paddy who runs for the first time since pulling up early in a Thurles maiden in November. Stacey’s Pride is interesting as she looks to build on her placed debut at Listowel last September and Acronym is a half-brother to a winner out of a mare whose siblings are headed by the Grade 1 winner Colonel Braxton.

Selection: GALLOWGLASS

Next best: Champagne Paddy
