Fakir could be potentially thrown in here if the first time tongue tie does the trick. Although yet to trouble the judge in three Irish outings the form of his last French win is particularly strong, with the runnerup up having attained a mark of 131 for Nicky Henderson. Fakir also has an additional 7lbs taken off his back here so he could be a blot.

Rasiym was in good form over the summer months, particularly when winning at Tipperary. He hasn't raced on ground this testing in some time but did have form on it when trained in France.

Selection: Fakir

Next Best: Rasiym

Half The Odds is a winning point-to-pointer and bumper mare who was highly tried in hurdle races last season. Connections obviously think quite highly of the seven-year-old as she kept good company on occasions. Having shown up nicely for a long ways on her recent debut over fences, she can be expected to go close now.

Cut The Mustard would arguably have been a slightly superior hurdler to the Noel Meade trained mare although she didn't always convince with her finishing. She gives the impression of a horse who needs to quicken off a strong pace so the smaller field here may not be ideal.

Selection: Half The Odds

Next Best: Cut The Mustard

Young Dev has been expertly placed by trainer Denis Hogan, winning his last two starts at this track. Fresh from his most recent success on St Stephen's Day, he can make it three from three now. Despite winning over the minimum trip on Thursday, his previous win had come over 2m 5f, so if anything, he will be better suited to this longer distance.

Alohamora made a promising debut over fences at Tramore and is well treated here taking her riders claim into account. She may just lack the experience of the Hogan runner but could be the one to take advantage if the latter fails to fire.

Selection: Young Dev

Franco De Port could quite be anything, so has to be followed until beaten. An easy winner on his debut in France[beat a horse now rated 131 by 13 lengths], he made short work of the opposition on his Irish debut at Gowran. Following that race connections immediately ruled out the Royal Bond, instead preferring to give him further experience.

Surin easily won a Grade 3 hurdle at Naas last time so will appreciate this drop in class. He looked a high class horse on that occasion so the Mullins' runner will face his stiffest test to date.

Selection: Franco De Port

Next Best: Surin

Heliers Bay will need to improve in order to take this ordinary maiden hurdle but may well be capable of doing so. The five-year-old has run well in a couple of big field maidens already this season and even a reproduction of those runs should give him every chance in a race of this nature.

K'chou Du Pecos AA has failed to fire for his illustrious connections thus far but it may be foolish to give up on him just yet. A beaten favourite on his bumper debut this time last year, his two outings over hurdles have failed to excite.

Selection: Heliers Bay

Next Best: K'chou Du Pecos

The Ballyboys is a regular here at this festival every Christmas, having won on two previous occasions. He ran as well as could have been expected when second to a handicap snip on St Stephens Day so has to be a live contender now. His best form has come at around this distance so having gone close over 2m earlier in the week this looks a better opportunity.

Southerner was an easy winner at Cork last time, on the back of a long absence. He traveled easily throughout that race and held on well once challenged. While there has to be a danger that he could bounce here, he is still the most likely danger to the selection.

Selection: The Ballyboys

Next Best: Southerner

Costalita was placed over hurdles at Clonmel last month, before getting off the mark at that same venue last time. She won with a bit to spare on that occasion so may be able to overcome an 8lbs rise. In a race where there doesn't appear to be too many alternatives, she is given the nod to continue her trainers excellent recent run.

Northern Love has shown no worthwhile form in just the three starts but his trainer loves nothing better than a winner at this track. It would be no surprise to see him leave his recent efforts behind with an improved showing here.

Selection: Costalita
