12.35 IRISH FIELD 3-Y-O MAIDEN HURDLE 2M

Tocororo is put forward although the testing ground is a major unknown for this Teofilo filly. Furthermore she has been off the track for 120 days but there was plenty of promise in her only run over hurdles so far which came when she was a ½l second to Lake Champlain in a Down Royal maiden in August.

The ground is not a concern for Oiche Mhaith Boy who started off his jumping career with a respectable third to Footpad in a Gowran maiden last month. He should mount a strong challenge for victory. Of the others Boost Buddy is interesting as he showed definite promise on his first three flat runs.

SELECTION: TOCORORO

Next best: Oiche Mhaith Boy

1.10 SIGNPLUS HURDLE 2M 4F

Willie Mullins holds a strong hand as he saddles a pair of 137-rated runners and of the pair slight preference is for Kalkir who pulled up in the Triumph Hurdle last time out. He won a Grade 3 at Fairyhouse just over a year ago and, although he didn’t quite progress from that, he did still post a couple of solid efforts in defeat. The pick of those was his 1¾l second to Petite Parisienne in a Leopardstown Grade 1 in February. On a line through the last-named Kalkir would appear to have an edge over Buiseness Sivola who was 8½l behind the same rival in a Punchestown Grade 1. Buiseness Sivola did appear to take a step forward last spring as his other form included a Grade 3 triumph at Fairyhouse.

SELECTION: KALKIR

1.40 WOODLANDS HOUSE HOTEL MAIDEN HURDLE 2M 3F

River Run hasn’t run for 13 months but he might still make a winning return. This French import has run just once in Ireland and that outing saw him finish a 28l fourth to Alpha Des Obeaux in a Punchestown maiden hurdle. The winner has since shown himself to be a high class sort while it is encouraging to note that both the second and third did win subsequently. This is only his second run since July 2013 so he surely has room for progress. Figurative is the one to beat having finished a respectable 7½l second to A Great View (winner again since and now rated 126) at this track last month.

2.10 SHANNON AIRPORT NOVICE CHASE (GRADE 2) 2M 3F 120YDS

There wasn’t much between the pair when they met in a beginner’s chase at Punchestown last month and Outlander and Free Expression could dominate once again.

On that occasion Outlander emerged victorious, scoring by 1½l, although the outcome could have been different had Free Expression enjoyed a smoother run at a vital stage of the race. Outlander hasn’t run since then but is entitled to have progressed nicely in the interim and he might just shade the outcome once more. Last time out Free Expression was pitched into Grade 1 company for the Drinmore where he finished a respectable third to No More Heroes. Again he didn’t enjoy the best of runs in the closing stages of that race and was entitled to finish somewhat closer than he did. He can be relied upon to run another good race.

SELECTION: OUTLANDER

Next best: Free Expression

2.45 O’KELLY BROTHERS DEMOLITION MARES HANDICAP HURDLE 2M

Blazing West is the choice to bring up a hat-trick of wins. The tough and reliable daughter of Westerner followed up her Thurles maiden hurdle win in a handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse last weekend where she coped well with the testing conditions and showed a good attitude to edge out Exit Seven.

She is a further 5lbs higher in the weights this time but could still take beating. Good As Gold does like this track and won here in April while she was second in this race two years ago. She is taking a drop in class following her sixth in a decent Fairyhouse handicap won by Blue Hell while her previous efforts behind Colla Pier and All You Need give her a clear chance.

SELECTION: BLAZING WEST

3.15 LADBROKES IRELAND HANDICAP CHASE (0-116) 2M 3F 120YDS

He has a 629 day absence to overcome but Burren River is worth taking a chance on. He won a hunters chase at this meeting two years ago and went on to show quite a reasonable level of form in that sphere.

Obviously his fitness has to be taken on trust but his previous winning form on testing ground at this venue is a positive and he has previously indicated that this sort of trip could suit him well. Top weight Rightville Boy is a danger despite picking up a 7lbs rise in the weights for his 11l win over Do Be Doin’ at Thurles last month. He too has winning form on testing ground at this track.

SELECTION: BURREN RIVER

Next best: Rightville Boy

3.50 LYONS OF LIMERICK JAGUAR & LAND ROVER MARES FLAT RACE 2M

Black Franks Angel is put forward to make a winning start on the racecourse. This daughter of Black Sam Bellamy had little difficulty justifying favouritism on her point-to-point debut at Mainstown last month. She can surely do better still and represents formidable connections in a race of this nature.

Perhaps Simple Steps can provide the sternest opposition. She has won twice in points and showed excellent progress from her first run on the track to finish fourth to Whistle Dixie in a mares maiden hurdle at Navan last week. Derrygereen Girl and Seeking Susan are others that could make an impression.

SELECTION: BLACK FRANKS ANGEL
