With the benefit of two runs under her girth this season, and now switching to better ground for the first time in 2026, Signora has her chance to get off the mark. She understandably got tired late on for her seasonal reappearance at the Curragh, and possibly weakened late at Cork last time too, but she’ll have no excuses now, with a good draw in stall four and Jack Cleary claiming 5lb off.
The selection is rated 1lb higher than Jessica Harrington’s Ridersinthesky, who earned Group 3 blacktype last season at the Curragh. She’s more than capable of winning a maiden, though Signora’s race-sharpness edge is worth bearing in mind as Ridersinthesky returns from 207 days off (and the fact she’s drawn widest of all in stall 15). Rayzera ran well behind a smart winner on her Gowran comeback when second and is strongly considered.
SELECTION: SIGNORA

With a rating of 102, The Publican’s Son ought to open his account in what looks a winnable maiden. The Group 3-placed colt didn’t get a good start to the Middle Park when thrown in at the deep end on his final start last season, and he made a reasonable return when fifth in a Leopardstown Group 3 trial 13 days ago. Hugh Horgan takes another 5lb off his back, so he’ll be very hard to beat if running anywhere near his mark.
Dark Leader is a half-brother to listed/Victoria Cup winner The Wizard Of Eye and now debuts for Fozzy Stack (cost 65,000gns as a breeze-up horse last season). Zenford made a pleasing comeback when third at the Curragh on much deeper ground last month and ought to be in the shake-up.
SELECTION: THE PUBLICAN’S SON
Next best: Zenford

Spacebound was nearly able to give 15lb to Lewis Carroll and beat him at the Curragh on his comeback, only to come up just short against the three-year-old. Back against his own age group now, Danny McLoughlin’s four-year-old looks the one to beat. The form of that maiden will be tested a race earlier, with the third-placed Zenford in action on this card too.
Je Suis Celebre was beaten as 11/8 favourite for a similar event at Dundalk nine weeks ago and now tries cheekpieces, while the ex-Shadwell El Rehaiby cost 60,000gns out of Owen Burrows’ yard and now debuts for the red-hot Andy Slattery team. Sron Na Caise made a positive start to his career at Gowran recently too.
SELECTION: SPACEBOUND
Next best: El Rehaiby

After two quiet runs without any headgear to begin his season, it’s interesting to see Robbie Burns refitting the blinkers back on Deuteronomy that saw him win here last season. He also gets back onto much more like his favoured ground after facing testing conditions the last twice, and the handicapper has started to give him a chance (now 4lb higher than when collecting here last June). This mile trip is arguably his best fit too.
Moyassr needs to be taken seriously for Paul Flynn off 9lb lower than his all-weather mark. Teffian Warrior might be capable of better now in the first-time cheekpieces, while Lady Arwen and Bella Colombia arrive here on the back of recent wins. Loingseoir is worth a market check in this grade.
SELECTION: DEUTERONOMY

Faoladh ran a big race at Leopardstown 13 days ago when drawn wide and this doesn’t look quite as deep a contest to build on that fourth-placed showing for the Slatterys. Again, he has a challenging post to begin with from stall 15 but he’ll have the ground in his favour and a mile looks his optimum distance. He looks to be on a competitive mark.
Amemri won over this course and distance last June and comes here with race sharpness on her side after a winter at Dundalk. She’s 6lb higher than her last win but can still be a live player. Mythical Rock is a danger on debut for Charles Byrnes if this trip isn’t too sharp for him.
SELECTION: FAOLADH
Next best: Amemri

It was an eyecatching reappearance from Um Wadi to finish as close as she did in a tactical race when ridden off the pace at Dundalk last month. She was waited with for her effort and was still only beaten a length in third. She’ll likely be coming from off the pace again out of stall 13 and looks one who can pop up off her mark of 78 before long.
Collecting Coin, a maiden winner at the Galway Festival last year, is one of the more unexposed candidates and made a solid comeback at Naas last month. He didn’t get the cleanest of runs there in fifth, without being an unlucky loser. Rion Rubette turns out under a 7lb penalty for winning at Gowran mid-week, while Highbury See See is a threat if this ground isn’t too quick for him.
SELECTION: UM WADI

Chablis Rock bumped into a likely high-quality sort in Chasing Paradise at the Curragh last time when second in a 10-furlong fillies’ maiden (the winner runs in today’s Salasbil Stakes at Navan). As a daughter of Sioux Nation, it would be reasonable to question whether she’ll relish this longer trip, but her dam line gives lots of encouragement, given she’s a half-sister to multiple group-winning stayer Coltane.
Donnacha O’Brien’s two newcomers certainly have a chance on paper, especially Near Perfection, who is a St Mark’s Basilica half-sister to Derby winner Anthony Van Dyck. Joseph O’Brien’s other runner, newcomer Pleased, is by Camelot, cost 500,000gns as a yearling and is a half-sister to Group 3 Oh So Sharp Stakes winner Fast Attack.
SELECTION: CHABLIS ROCK

The versatile Church Mountain is one to pay close attention to, now able to drop into 0-60 company, and he ran well on slower ground than he ideally wants last time at Navan (reported to be particularly holding underfoot). He’s won around here before and Jack Kearney’s 3lb claim helps offset his big weight. Given he can win from off the pace, his draw in stall 14 isn’t an obvious concern.
Calamint finished ahead of the selection last time at Navan and must be given strong consideration in what looks a weak race. The longer trip is the slight question mark for her. If Deed Poll is fit enough after a break, he’s one to factor into the equation off a potentially workable flat mark.
SELECTION: CHURCH MOUNTAIN
