1.10 IRISH STALLION FARMS EBF MAIDEN 6F 90YDS

Sioux Nation looks a solid option following his satisfactory debut effort at Naas last month where he was beaten just under 3l into third by T For Tango. He can be relied upon to improve off that initial outing, while the switch to quicker ground looks sure to suit this son of Scat Daddy. In addition he has a decent draw to aid his cause. Sebastiano Ricci contested that same Naas contest and was beaten 3½l into fifth. He too should come forward from that outing and he looks a credible threat to the selection. Scorpion Black is a notable newcomer from a leading yard and a similar remark applies to both Camelback and Brother Bear.

Selection: SIOUX NATION

Next best: Sebastiano Ricci

1.40 MORTONS COACHES MAIDEN 1M

A chance is taken on Captain Hardship who may not have as much to find as official ratings might suggest. This colt has yet to run this season but fourth place finishes in maidens won by Lancaster Bomber and Yucatan last August are solid pieces of form and would indicate that he can make his mark in a maiden.

Pipes Of Peace sets the standard with his rating of 95. He was beaten 13l into fourth by Cliffs Of Moher in a maiden at this track late last season but prior to that he was beaten only 3¼l into fifth in a Group 3 won by Making Light at this track. He is fitted with blinkers for the first time. Constant Comment’s debut effort entitles her to respect while Rich History shaped much better than the final result would suggest at Navan last week. He will be suited by coming back to a mile.

Selection: CAPTAIN HARDSHIP

2.10 ARD GLEN CONSTRUCTION AMETHYST STAKES (GROUP 3) 1M

Tribal Beat defied an absence of 10 months to win the Group 3 Desmond Stakes over this course and distance last August and a return to that level of form would make him a formidable contender on his reappearance. The four-year-old was restricted to just two outings last term and wasn’t at his best when last seen in action in September but he is a high class sort at his best.

Cougar Mountain was beaten 1½l by Tribal Beat in last year’s Desmond Stakes. He already has the benefit of several runs this season and the ground here will be quicker than what encountered when sixth in last week’s Group 2 at Sandown so he should be able to improve on what he showed last time.

Selection: TRIBAL BEAT

Next best: Custom Cut

2.45 DERRINSTOWN STUD 1000 GUINEAS TRIAL (GROUP 3) 1M

Following an encouraging return at Naas on Monday, Elizabeth Browning is worth siding with. This Galileo filly won a nursery off a mark of 81 late last season but her return in the Athasi Stakes indicated that she had progressed over the winter as she was beaten just under 5l into fourth by Rehana. She could easily improve for that outing and a repeat performance would entitle her to get closely involved.

Bean Feasa didn’t appear to match the form of her comeback when she was second to Naughty Or Nice at Gowran last Sunday. That outing came over an extended 1m 1f on soft ground so she could easily do better back in trip on this better surface. Her season began with an excellent fifth to Hydrangea in a high class Guineas Trial at this track last month.

Holy Cat was a smart sort last season but is stepping into the unknown in terms of trip as she was raced exclusively over 6f as a juvenile.

Selection: ELIZABETH BROWNING

Next best: Bean Feasa

3.20 DERRINSTOWN STUD DERBY TRIAL STAKES (GROUP 3) 1M 2F

Capri has ground to make up on several of his rivals from their meeting in the Ballysax Stakes over this course and distance last month but he is certainly better than the result there would imply.

On that occasion the Beresford Stakes winner was beaten over 4l into fourth by Rekindling, while both Douglas Macarthur and Yucatan finished in front of him. Capri shaped as though he would improve a good deal for that run and he doesn’t have to carry a penalty here which is another point in his favour. This time Capri can confirm Beresford Stakes form with Yucatan over whom he had ¾l to spare when they met at the Curragh last September.

Douglas Macarthur’s comeback run entitles him to respect and he is unlikely to be far away. Dubai Sand needs to improve on his Ballysax effort while Insayshable looked a nice type when he won his maiden over this course and distance last month.

Selection: CAPRI

Next best: Yucatan

3.55 JOHN R FITZPATRICK AGRICULTURAL CONTRACTOR HANDICAP 7F

Last season Texas Rock turned in a string of fine effort on various types of ground and he ended the campaign with two wins in Curragh handicaps. A comeback run at Dundalk in March should leave him in good shape for this and he has a decent draw to aid his cause while he is only 4lbs than when last successful.

He is preferred to the in form Split The Atom who won over 7f at Dundalk on his penultimate start before losing out by a neck to Peticoatgovernment in a sprint handicap at Navan last week. Korbous saves his best for this track and can improve for his comeback. Club Wexford must have a strong chance as he looks to build on last weekend’s success while the top-weight Gymkhana is easily forgiven a below par run last time having previously looked a smart sort at Naas.

Selection: TEXAS ROCK

Next best: Split The Atom

4.30 FITZPATRICK GALLAGHER MCEVOY SOLICITORS HANDICAP 1M 4F

Brokopondo picked up a 7lbs hike in the ratings for finishing fourth in a decent Tipperary conditions race won by Tandem last month. As a result, he lines up here off a career high mark of 89 but this likeable and reliable gelding could defy his rise up the ratings.

He has been in fine heart this year and the switch to this quick ground could enable him to better the form he showed at Tipperary. Tirmizi is a fanscinating runner. He looked a fine prospect when winning a maiden at this track on his sole outing as a juvenile but he hasn’t run since finishing down the field when well fancied for the Derby Trial on this card last year.

Benkei finished a place in front of the selection at Tipperary and he too has his chance although he might prefer a longer trip.

Selection: BROKOPONDO

Next best: Tirmizi

5.05 CREW OF R116 MEMORIAL & IRISH COASTGUARD MAIDEN 1M 4F

Diodorus is a hopeful choice in a maiden where a case could be made for quite a few of the runners.

This colt was placed at listed level last season but he was unable to match that form on his comeback at Naas where he was beaten over 8l into fourth by the impressive Tocco D’amore. However, he should come on for that run and it is worth recalling that he was still disputing the lead approaching the final furlong that day before weakening late on.

Clongowes finished a couple of lengths in front of Diodorus at Naas but didn’t match that form at Tipperary next time. He is respected though and so too is Belgravia who took third in that Naas race.

World War has every chance with his rating of 87 and his form including runner-up finishes behind the likes of Rekindling and Douglas Macarthur.

Selection: DIODORUS
