1.50 IRISH STALLION FARMS EBF FILLIES MAIDEN 1M
Forever Together is chosen to build on an encouraging debut at Naas earlier in the month where she was beaten just over 6l into fourth by Who’s Steph. The daughter of Galileo caught the eye with some good late work and she should sharpen up appreciably for that first run. She faces several interesting rivals headed by Alghabrah, who is a a half-sister to last season’s Irish 2000 Guineas hero Awtaad, and the useful filly Aneen. She has a good draw to aid her cause. By contrast Contingent has a wide draw to contend with but this daughter of Frankel is out of a high-class racemare who has already produced a stakes winner in Variable.
Selection: FOREVER TOGETHER
Next best: Alghabrah
2.20 IRISH STALLION FARMS EBF (C&G) MAIDEN 1M
This could see James Cook build on his heartening debut outing at Naas last month where he finished a 4l second to McMunigal. Found’s younger brother put in some reasonable work over the last furlong of that race and can do better after that outing and for the step up to this distance. He could have most to fear from Marlborough Sands who ran with distinct promise when making his debut at Gowran Park last week to finish a 2¼l third to Saracen Knight. Meagher’s Flag began his career with an excellent second to Saxon Warrior at the Curragh and a return to that form would make him a leading contender.
Selection: JAMES COOK
Next best: Marlborough Sands
2.55 IRISH INJURED JOCKEYS NURSERY HANDICAP 1M
Baroness, who is among three runners for Joseph O’Brien, may be the one to side with. There has been definite promise in each of her three runs so far and she shaped up encouragingly on her return from a six-week absence to finish fifth to I Can Fly in a useful Dundalk maiden late last month. The step up to a mile should suit her well with the one point of concern being the ground. She may just prefer a quicker surface to be seen at her best. Her stablemate Sebastiano Ricci is a solid sort and showed up well at Cork last week to chase home Drombeg Dawn in an extended one-mile nursery. The top-weight, Drapers Guild, would be very interesting if able to repeat his penultimate run behind Delano Roosevelt.
Selection: BARONESS
Next best: Sebastiano Ricci
3.30 KILLAVULLAN STAKES (GROUP 3) 7F
An industrious end to the season for Bye Bye Baby could continue with a first success at pattern level. After winning a 7f Newmarket maiden late last month, she turned out again eight days later to land the Listed Silken Glider Stakes at Navan. This race demands more but she won’t have a problem with any easing in the ground, the drop back to this distance isn’t a concern and she is thriving with racing. McMunigal looked a nice type when he made a winning debut in a 7f maiden at Naas last month and he could well be strong challenger. Kenya is a promising type who was a very easy maiden winner last weekend and Landshark’s second in the Round Tower Stakes has been well advertised by U S Navy Flag’s subsequent Group 1-winning spree.
Selection: BYE BYE BABY
Next best: McMunigal
4.00 TRIGO STAKES (LISTED) 1M 2F
Cannonball can make his mark at this level and he is another for whom any easing in the ground over the weekend will not be a problem. This dual winner was beaten less than 1l into fourth by Eziyra in a 1m4f Group 3 here last month and he followed that with an honourable second to Detailed in a listed race at Limerick. He should cope well with the drop back to this distance. Grandee would ideally prefer a longer trip and he was some way below his best last time. However, the form he showed to beat Eziyra in a 1m4f listed race here in the summer makes him a leading player and the slow ground should also suit him well. Longing remains a promising filly and she is capable of a good deal better than she showed at Naas last week.
Selection: CANNONBALL
Next best: Grandee
4.30 YULONG TROPHY HANDICAP 1M 15YDS
A chance is taken on Turbine who comes here off a solid third behind a pair of useful types in a Thurles maiden hurdle last week. A couple of his runs this season give him an excellent chance, notably his fourth to Riven Light in a premier handicap over an extended 1m at the Galway Festival. It is encouraging to note that he showed up well over 6f at Dundalk last month. Gold Spinner must have a good chance despite top weight. He will enjoy the ground and comes here off a decent third to Not A Bad Oul Day at Listowel, while his penultimate outing saw him finish strongly to be beaten just over 4½l into sixth in the Irish Cambridgeshire.
Selection: TURBINE
Next best: Gold Spinner
5.00 CLUB GODOLPHIN STUDENT INITIATIVE HANDICAP 1M
The Last Indian has climbed some 41lbs in the ratings for winning her last three starts but she might find further improvement over this trip. She had to work for victory at Listowel last time but that win was achieved on exacting ground and, under the circumstances, she did well to prevail there. Previously, The Last Indian finished out her race strongly to land a 1m2f Navan handicap and that means she should be comfortable over this trip. Grand Partner’s last three runs have been at premier handicap level and they include a third to Ted Veale at Listowel and a respectable seventh in the Irish Cesarewitch. He should be closely involved at a track that brings out the best in him.
Selection: THE LAST INDIAN
Next best: Grand Partner
