1:55 Ballylinch Stud Irish EBF Ingabelle Stakes (Listed) 7f
Paddy Twomey went close to winning this race last season with Foxtrot Liv and he can go one better this time with Raven’s Cry, who has been bought by the same owner of last year’s runner-up. The daughter of Raven’s Pass really caught the eye when winning her maiden from stall 14 at Galway and that race has worked really well with the second and third, Natural Power and Helvic Dream, both winning since. She then went on to beat Ger Lyons’s Baby Zeus comfortably at Killarney in what looked like another good heat. Her trainer is among the shrewdest in the game and he could have another smart filly on his hands.
Nurse Barbara and Lady Jane Wilde are respected coming off debut wins but Punita Arora is probably best placed to put it up to the selection. She is already rated 98 after three runs and posted a good effort in a Navan nursery last week, finishing off the five furlongs strongly, suggesting this step up in trip could help her.
SELECTION: RAVEN’S CRY
Next best: Punita Arora

A lot of the principals here are drawn out wide but that might not be enough of a hindrance to Buildmeupbuttercup who can give Willie Mullins his third win in a row. The five-year-old mare has the form to win a contest like this, through her excellent run in the Ascot Stakes. Dropping back to a mile and a half was no problem for her at Galway and off just a 3lb higher mark than her Ascot second, she looks the one to beat now.
Kastasa is the obvious danger. She is lightly-raced, has won her last two and stays really well, as she showed when mowing down Effernock Fizz on her latest start at the Curragh. Others to mention are Trossachs, who has been both progressive and consistent for Jim Bolger and Eminent Authority, who disappointed on his latest run but looked promising on his first three starts, not least when a close third to Rakan here in the King George V Cup.
SELECTION: BUILDMEUPBUTTERCUP
Next best: Kastasa
3:05 KPMG Champions Juvenile Stakes (Group 2) 1m
Rebel Tale surprised a few when finishing a closing-in second to Armory in the Futurity Stakes but he can show here it was no fluke. Andrew Slattery’s colt hadn’t shown that level in his four previous runs but he was on his second run after a mini break, and could well have progressed in that interim. Good ground and coming up to a mile should suit him and he could land a big win for his trainer.
Mogul is obviously respected and could end up being the real class act in this race. He finished third on his debut but progressed in typically Ballydoyle style when winning at the Curragh last time out. His stablemate Cormorant, is also respected after winning here last time out while Mick Halford’s Sinawann is another who should appreciate this test of stamina.
SELECTION: REBEL TALE
Next best: Mogul

Leo De Fury and Buckhurst are closely matched on their meeting in the Royal Whip Stakes last time and they could fight out the finish to another Group 3 today. Only a head separated the pair at the Curragh but though Leo De Fury came off worst, it was he who was finishing fastest over the 10-furlong trip. Over two furlongs further and on this just his fifth ever start, Jessica Harrington’s colt can gain his revenge. Guaranteed wasn’t far behind the aforementioned pair in the same contest and earlier showed his liking for this course and distance when only just failing to beat Latrobe in the Group 3 Ballyroan Stakes.
British raider Kelly’s Dino is respected but has yet to really perform well in Group company. Mount Everest is also worth mentioning. He was highly touted through the winter but is only making his seasonal debut now. Only just beaten by Japan in the Beresford Stakes, he remains a colt of potential but may just need this run.
SELECTION: LEO DE FURY
Next best: Buckhurst
4:50 Clipper Logistics Boomerang Stakes (Group 2) 1m
Lancaster House is clearly going in the right direction but this is his toughest test yet and he could be worth taking on at a short price. Suedois, David O’Meara’s tremendously consistent eight-year-old returned to winning ways in the Group 3 Supreme Stakes on his previous run and looks sure to play a major part. He won this race in 2017 so we know he likes the track, and he also finished ahead of one of the other major British runners here, Space Traveller, in the Lennox Stakes on his penultimate run.
Matterhorn is another that should come into calculations – he has maintained a good standard when second on both of his previous runs. Mick Halford’s mare Surrounding is a credit to her connections but might just find this tough, stepping up to Group 2 level.
SELECTION: SUEDOIS
Next best: Lancaster House
6:00 Irish Stallion Farms EBF “Sovereign Path” Handicap 7f
It might be worth chancing that this has been the plan for Silverkode all season, because if it has been, he has to have a major chance. Joseph Murphy’s gelding has finish second in the last two renewals of this contest of marks of 99 and 91 respectively. He runs off 83 today and the return to good ground, seven furlongs and this track could work the oracle.
Current Option will be a player. He ran a huge race to finish just under a length away from Jassaar in the Irish Cambridgeshire and is weighted to beat that rival now. That was just his second run for Ado McGuinness and he has a lightly-raced profile in general, so has scope to improve further. British raiders have taken four of the previous five renewals and Shawaamekh looks best placed to improve that stat. Declan Carroll’s five-year-old gelding is another lightly-raced type and comes into this off two wins. He’ll also have the services of Oisin Murphy.
SELECTION: SILVERKODE
Next best: Current Option
