1.57 Irish EBF Fillies Maiden

1m 100yd

With an official rating of 97, Speckles makes the most sense here for the same stable that won this maiden with Minnie Hauk and Amelia Earhart in the last two seasons. Her third in the Group 2 May Hill Stakes, admittedly some way behind Fillies’ Mile star Musical Times, was solid and she has lots of experience.

Duchessofaquitaine was a 425,000gns yearling purchase from Tattersalls Book 1 last year and is a full sister to high-class colt The Lion In Winter. Zenith Blaze and State Of Clarity have shown the potential to win maidens while there are several well-bred newcomers worth a market check, including Dermot Weld’s Hanawa.

2.32 Irish EBF (C & G) Maiden 1m 100yd

Mount Meru looked a maiden winner waiting to happen when second to Albany County at Gowran on his debut four weeks ago and can go one better now for Joseph O’Brien. The fourth from that same contest was only beaten a short-head at Naas on his only start since.

For all that he didn’t step forward as much as might have been hoped last time, Kingdom Of Camelot was an eye-catcher when fourth to Darkness Falls on his Curragh debut. Louis De Foix is a 115,000gns yearling out of a listed-winning mare and looks worth close inspection for Paddy Twomey. Mashad has a lovely pedigree for Johnny Murtagh, while Midnight Ace comes from a smart family and might be one to note for future reference.

3.07 Mongey Communications Eyrefield Stakes (Group 3) 1m 1f

It was a big performance from Wall Street when winning a maiden here 10 weeks ago on debut, collecting in spite of his greenness. The form could hardly be working out any better too, with the runner-up, Jesus Green, second to Darkness Falls in a Group 1 prior to his maiden win at Navan, and the third-placed Drumbeat bolting up in a Newmarket Group 3 last weekend. Stablemate Albany County looks useful in his own right. He met smart sorts in his first two starts before striking at Gowran last month. Joey Sheridan’s preference for Galway maiden winner Leadlight over Zarak Pasha must be a positive for the former.

3.40 Irish Stallion Farms EBF Laidlaw Cup Fillies Maiden 7f

Miss Hong Kong ran with credit at Naas on her sole start and could well have a fair deal of progress in her. This €165,000 yearling was Donnacha O’Brien’s sole entrant in the Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes this year too, and was sent off 11/4 favourite at Naas. The 98-rated Snowing has the experience and ability to play a leading role, though she’s been busy. Taranga has a quality pedigree and is worth watching on debut for Dermot Weld, while Ita Florence went into the notebook after her latest Gowran second.

SELECTION: MISS HONG KONG

4.15 Mongey Communications Killavullan Stakes (Group 3) 7f

Goffs Million star Trean sets the standard on ratings with an official mark of 105 and add another smart prize to his CV if his hectic enough campaign doesn’t count against him in the latter stages of the season. Capability Brown looks the Ballydoyle number one, while Windsor Castle Stakes winner King Of Cloughan has two and a half lengths to find with Trean from their Goffs Million clash, but that should be closer now - and might even be reversed. He didn’t get a smooth run at a key time at the Curragh.

SELECTION: TREAN

Next best: King Of Cloughan

4.50 Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden 7f

First Watch ran with credit when third in a Naas maiden behind Nouveau Grey and Miss Hong Kong, and that experience should be a valuable asset against some unraced youngsters here. His three-parts sister won a seven-and-a-half-furlong maiden around here on her two-year-old debut last year for Stephen Thorne.

On paper, Accumulation has every chance of being above average, although the fact he’s entered up for a horse-in-training sale is a slight question. Paddy Twomey’s Justify debutant Drive On There failed to change hands at €150,000 at the breeze-ups. Sinanli is a half-brother to a Group 1-placed sprinter and is by Night Of Thunder. Vale Dos Pinheiros may show up well at a big price.

5.20 Irish Stallion Farms EBF Nursery Handicap 1m 100yd

Johnny Murtagh is often the man to follow in nursery company and his Romayan might be one to click on handicap debut in the first-time cheekpieces. He ran well for a long way when trying to put it up to subsequent Beresford Stakes winner Noble Exhibit at Punchestown.

City Of Gold was just chinned last time at Galway after trading as short as 1/33 in the in-running markets. King Christoph is unexposed and won at Thurles in fine style last time.
