1.15 ML Lynch Civil Engineering Maiden Hurdle 2m 100y

Karakhan, who went very close at Bellewstown last month, can shed his maiden tag at the sixth attempt. Denis Hogan’s five-year-old followed up that run with another solid effort at Galway, before disappointing when reverting to the flat a few days later. Perhaps that latter race came too soon but either way, he looks to hold strong claims here.

Boom Boom Boom is sure to be well supported being a locally owned horse from a stable in form. He has run well on the flat since last seen over jumps and boasts an identical handicap mark to Karakhan.

SELECTION: KARAKHAN

Da Big Fella can give Killarney-based trainer Eamonn Courtney his second success at this local meeting. A winner here last month, the son of Gold Well ran a big race off his new rating when third at Wexford last time.

The excellent Mike O’Connor is a significant booking for this conditional jockeys’ race as his 4lb claim is invaluable in this grade.

Call Me Freddie has changed stables since landing a monster gamble at Cork recently.

He travelled very well throughout that contest, despite only just getting there at the end. A 9lb rise seems harsh in the circumstances but a fast run race such as this looks ideal.

SELECTION: DA BIG FELLA

Naturally Blond disappointed at Tramore last time but a reproduction of his course and distance success at the July meeting here would see him hard to beat. On that occasion, he made all the running before repelling his challengers up the long Killarney straight.

The tighter track at Tramore may not have played to his strengths, so he is afforded another chance to get back to winning ways. Bright Sunbird, runner-up at Cork last time, is a lightly raced type who could have more to offer.

Paul Nolan has been enjoying a really good time of late and should be involved here with one of the few potential improvers in the field.

SELECTION: NATURALLY BLOND

Next Best: Bright Sunbird

Line Out could be the answer to this very competitive affair, having really come to the boil in recent weeks.

Fourth in a stronger grade than this at the Galway Festival, he was impressive when winning a flat maiden at Tramore on his latest start. John Kiely is a man that loves to have a winner at Killarney and this race has most likely been a target for some time.

William Of Wykeham is another who looks to have been lined up for this prize. Second in the corresponding event last year, he has been lightly campaigned in the interim and everything points to a big run now.

SELECTION: LINE OUT

Next Best: William Of Wykeham

Embittered sets a high standard in this company, so granted a clear ground the seven-year-old should take all the beating. Second in Grade 3 class over the winter, he acquitted himself well when stepped up the top level on a couple of occasions after.

A smart hurdler, who was placed in a County Hurdle at Cheltenham, this represents a great opportunity for him to win his first race over fences.

Poseidon has less experience of chasing with just the two runs under his belt but is also a decent hurdler at his best. He will appreciate the smaller field more than Embittered so could have the edge if it turned into a tactical battle.

SELECTION: EMBITTERED

Next Best: Poseidon

The Very Man needs to put a disappointment at Galway behind him but if doing so he holds every chance. The highest-rated of these over hurdles, he receives weight all round once taking his riders claim into account.

The fact he was asked to compete at Grade 3 level last time shows how well regarded he is by connections.

Myth Buster has plenty of chasing experience to call upon, as he has competed in some of the biggest handicaps of the season. Although the eight-year-old has only one career win to his credit, he often runs well in decent company and should enjoy this smaller field.

SELECTION: THE VERY MAN

Ilikedwayurthinkin has yet to sparkle over fences but undoubtedly has the potential to win a race such as this.

A high-class handicapper over hurdles in 2019/20, he looked set for a fruitful campaign over fences last winter but for one reason or another it just never worked out.

Fresh from a summer break, he should be a different animal now and can start to finally live up to expectations.

Pont Aven has two ways of running, with as many letters as numbers in his form lines. However, there can be no doubt that on his day the eight-year-old is well capable of winning races such as this. It really just depends on what form he is in on the day.

Sherodan should prove very difficult to beat in this finale with his rider’s claim being a huge benefit. A winner at Tipperary on his racecourse debut, he looked a smart type on that occasion with the promise of more to come. His penalty for that success has been offset by Mike O’Connor, so at these weights he must hold leading claims.

Lahinch Three was impressive when making a successful debut at Kilbeggan before running well in a stronger race at Galway. Patrick Mullins takes over in the saddle here, so that in itself has to be significant.

SELECTION: SHERODAN
