1.25 ML Lynch Civil Engineering Ltd. Maiden Hurdle (Div I)

Reaching High is an intriguing runner on his hurdling debut. Owned by HM The King and HM The Queen, the Willie Mullins-trained gelding has twice been a beaten favourite in the Ascot Stakes. Clearly a high-class horse who hasn’t enjoyed the best of fortunes to date, he is an exciting recruit to the jumping game.

Chester Plate runner-up Kingstonian is also lightly raced on the flat and has the potential to improve over hurdles.

With an official rating of 116, Sea Eagle sets a fair standard in this weaker division. A smart handicapper on the flat, the Gerard O’Leary-trained gelding has improved with each start over flights. Having finished runner-up at Wexford last time, he can go one better now.

An impressive winner of a Ballinrobe bumper last time, Ealu Tapa has to be respected. Making his debut over hurdles here, he lacks experience but looks a decent prospect so has to be considered.

SELECTION: SEA EAGLE

Pure Logic shaped well enough when third at Tramore recently to suggest she can open her account. A smart bumper mare, who finished runner-up on three of her four starts, the Shark Hanlon-trained six-year-old has hinted at better to come since going jumping.

Uptaurintop is another that has been shaping as though his turn is near. Placed here at the July meeting, the Eugene O’Sullivan-trained gelding also reached the frame on his more recent outing at Cork earlier this month. He won’t need to find a great deal to get his head in front.

SELECTION: PURE LOGIC

A four-time winner over hurdles, including over course and distance, Londonofficecallin holds strong claims. Having mixed it between chasing and the flat of late, the Gavin Cromwell-trained gelding reverts to hurdling off a favourable mark. With Eoin Staples claiming an additional 5lb, he looks well treated.

Frankendael ran well for a long way before weakening late on here last time. Well handicapped on the best of his form, he is capable of getting involved at the business end.

Runner-up in the Irish Champion Hurdle last February, Daddy Long Legs is a decent recruit to chasing. A winner over hurdles at Ballinrobe in May, the Willie Mullins-trained gelding has acquitted himself well in three subsequent starts. Over this sort of trip, he should have too much pace for his opponents.

Galway Hurdle winner Putapoundinthejar also makes his chasing debut. Having been an impressive winner of the Ballybrit feature, it is interesting that connections have decided to send the gelding over fences straight away.

SELECTION: DADDY LONG LEGS

Having opened his account over fences over course and distance last time, Butch Cassidy can follow up. A lightly raced son of Walk In The Park, the Henry de Bromhead-trained gelding is well treated at the weights and has already proven his ability to act around the track.

A beaten favourite at Punchestown in June, Emily Love had done little wrong in two previous starts over fences. In receipt of weight from her rivals, she shouldn’t be far away.

SELECTION: BUTCH CASSIDY

Mousey Brown is an each-way suggestion in a competitive affair. Fourth in the corresponding race last year, following a decent run over hurdles at the Galway Festival when fourth, Dermot McLoughlin has followed a similar route with the mare on this occasion. This has almost certainly been the plan. Solitary Man seldom runs a bad race at this track, so has to be among the main dangers. He won at Kilbeggan on his penultimate start before down the field in the Galway Plate.

Runner-up to a subsequent winner here last month, Emergency Man can go one better. The Paul Nolan-trained four-year-old shaped like a certain future winner. In receipt of all the allowances here, he can register a first success.

Galway bumper winner Teofil looked an above average sort when battling back bravely to beat some highly regarded rivals.
