2.26 Adare Manor Opportunity Maiden Hurdle 2m 3f

After bouncing back to form when only run down in the closing stages here 16 days ago, Facile Ocean is entitled to be in the shake-up again with a similar effort. That wasn’t a vintage contest, though the cast of characters in this line-up aren’t all bulletproof either. He had shown early promise in a four-year-old bumper last year for Tom Mullins.

L’As de Watt was seemingly unfancied and never landed a telling blow on his return from a break in a Killarney novice hurdle last time. His previous second to the talented I’m Slippy in a Cork maiden hurdle puts him in the picture, though.

Captain Hanley, Gunnery Sergeant, Imarajan and point-to-pointer I Can Find Em have prospects in their own right.

SELECTION: FACILE OCEAN

Next best: L’As de Watt

Given that Josh Williamson tends to ride a fair deal more for Gordon Elliott than James Smith, Master Haku might be the stable’s number-one here, even if he was beaten last time at Killarney. He may just have been done for a bit of class over two and a half miles then and looks worth a try at this longer trip.

Lemmy Caution opened his account at the fifth attempt under rules at Punchestown last time and also could well be comfortable at this type of trip, considering his racing style. Local News caused a 100/1 upset in a mares’ maiden hurdle over two miles and three furlongs at Cork three weeks ago. It’s a positive for her that the third from that contest won at Limerick during the week.

SELECTION: MASTER HAKU

Rajjnatin has been a beaten favourite on his first two starts for Ian Donoghue, but his stable bow was encouraging enough and his last start came when trying fences for the first time. He wouldn’t have joined this yard all that long before his introductory third at Down Royal and he’s entitled to have acclimatised more in the 51 days since his last start. Cheekpieces also go on for the first time.

Justicialism has been knocking on the door the last twice and should deliver a bold bid, with Dara McGill’s 7lb claim a boost. Anodandawink produced a career-best around here over three miles last time and can throw his hat into the ring if as effective at shorter (gave way late on over further on latest start).

Sheer Raz is consistent enough and now has a tongue-tie added.

SELECTION: RAJJNATIN

Le Diablo bolted up in this grade at Clonmel two starts ago over two miles and a furlong before failing to back that up as 3/1 favourite over further at the same venue 17 days ago. If back on song, now down in trip again, he’s an obvious player off 8lb higher than his win in what looks an open race.

If Secret Rock had a recent run under his girth, he’d be a lively one here on debut for Cian Collins. He’s still interesting and is worth a market check. The first-time cheekpieces could be a help to El Regalo, who never got involved from behind on the flat at Roscommon last time but had shown a glimmer at Navan previously off a layoff.

SELECTION: LE DIABLO

Apple’s Of Bresil has a 370-day absence to overcome for Barry Connell. However, he looked a talented operator in a bumper and maiden hurdle before finishing down the field at Ballinrobe when last seen, and he could have a touch of class in this beginners’ chase restricted to horses rated 120 or less over hurdles. Decent ground will be right up his street too.

Londonofficecallin popped up at 40/1 in the Cork Derby four weeks ago so comes here in excellent heart. He only just sneaks in here too with his hurdles mark of 120. Boston Rajj lacks a recent run but should be able to win a race like this in due course, while Something Noble gets a strong pull at the weights as a four-year-old but has less experience than many of these over obstacles.

SELECTION: APPLE’S OF BRESIL

It worked out a smart piece of form when No Flies On Him split Moudan and Anotherway (both subsequent winners) in a Limerick novice chase over Christmas, and he could easily be better than his mark of 120. He looked a likely graded performer early in his career and has 7lb taken off with Peter Smithers. Perhaps he’d prefer slightly slower ground, but he did win his maiden hurdle impressively on yielding at Leopardstown.

Iamagetaway disappointed here last time but had previously looked like he could win before long when third at this venue. Bridie’s Beau, tried in first-time cheekpieces, is a danger if bringing his ‘A’ game and coping with much better ground than his wins came on.

Warrior’s Wood is light on chasing experience but is open to improvement and will enjoy conditions.

SELECTION: NO FLIES ON HIM

Despite being beaten nearly 15 lengths on his debut at Killarney earlier in the month, Pack Ball probably brings the best form on offer in a bumper lacking depth, on the face of it. Patrick Mullins and Tom Cooper have a teamed up for five winners on their last 10 pairings.

Ian Donoghue’s newcomer, Rarely Miss Taken, is a Poet’s Word half-sister to Bobby’s Nelson (rated 129 in Britain). Getaway Tobin ran in a much better bumper than this on debut when beaten 40 lengths at the Punchestown Festival.

SELECTION: PACK BALL
