Last call for Beauty Generation

TWO Group 1s are the features on the Sha Tin this weekend with the once highest-rated horse in the world Beauty Generation out to redeem his reputation in the Stewards’ Cup (Group 1) (Sky Racing 6.15am) after three defeats in his last outings.

Beauty Generation has had his colours lowered after winning 10 consecutive races, including five at Group 1 level. Still, although he’s lost his invincible aura, he’s still a champion who is going to fighting out the finish as he bids to win back-to-back Stewards’ Cups.

Waikuku narrowly missed last start behind Admire Mars in the Hong Kong Mile. He had beaten Beauty Generation twice, including in the Jockey Club Mile score two starts ago. He is on the rise and can cement his position as Hong Kong’s next big thing with a Group 1 win here.

Reigning champion

Furore is the reigning BMW Hong Kong Derby champion. He steps out over 1600m following a minor setback and can figure also.

In the Group 1 Centenary Sprint Cup (7.20am) Hot King Prawn has returned from a bout with colic in excellent order, and was second behind Aethero at Group 2 level, before notching up another second behind stablemate Beat The Clock in the Hong Kong Sprint.

He comes into this with those two runs under his belt and looks the one to beat.

Beat The Clock was that winner of the Hong Kong Sprint and he’s looking for back-to-back wins in this race as well as a fourth career Group 1. Joao Moreira sticks aboard here and he’s going to get every chance to show his class.

Mr Stunning returned from a lengthy lay off to grab eighth first-up before his narrow fourth place finish in the Hong Kong Sprint behind Beat The Clock and deserves respect.
