2.05 SUMMER EVENINGS AT GOWRAN PARK MAIDEN 1M
Frima lacks the advantage of a previous run but she makes plenty of appeal on pedigree but, encouragingly, she does hold a Group 1 entry in the Pretty Polly Stakes and she might succeed. This filly is a daughter of Frankel and she is a half-sister to the high-class middle-distance runner Jet Away.
She is chosen ahead of Auckland who finished down the field on his comeback at Leopardstown. Auckland had previously shaped with promise on his debut outing here late last season and might do better over shorter trips. It wouldn’t come as any surprise to see him take a major step forward on his comeback effort.
Selection: FRIMA
Next Best: Auckland
2.35 IRISH STALLION FARMS EBF HANDICAP 7F
She comes here in terrific form and Elusive Approach looks capable of making it three wins from her last four outings. Already this season she has picked up a couple of 45-65 rated handicaps at Dundalk and she has climbed 17lbs in the ratings for her last three efforts. However, she coped well with a rise in class when only just denied by Shannon Soul in a reasonable 1m handicap at Limerick last weekend. There are more races to be won with her.
Sharliyna’s comeback at Naas is forgiven as she was found to be slightly lame. In two starts last season she looked a useful filly and there should be more to come from her. Orangey Red is respected following an encouraging comeback while Truffles could be another to consider.
Selection: ELUSIVE APPROACH
Next Best: Sharliyna

Bean Feasa was unable to build on her fine debut second to Psychedelic Funk last April as she struggled on her next two starts. However, her return to action was much more encouraging as she was beaten just over 3l into fifth in a high-class edition of the Group 3 1000 Guineas Trial at Leopardstown. She is entitled to progress from that.
Madame Cherie was unable to make an impression at Group 3 level on her final start last season. However, her debut second to Hydrangea, where she finished in front of the exciting White Satin Dancer, was most encouraging and suggested that she was more than good enough to win a maiden. Sansibar Jewel can progress on a solid debut outing last October.
Selection: BEAN FEASA
Next Best: Madame Cherie
3.35 IRISH STALLION FARMS EBF VICTOR MCCALMONT MEMORIAL STAKES (LISTED) 1M 1F 100YDS
This could see Somehow build on her encouraging return to action at Naas last month when she went down by ½l to Czabo in the Group 3 Park Express Stakes. The daughter of Fastnet Rock will improve from her first run since last August, the switch to better ground can work in her favour and she won a Group 3 over a similar trip to this last autumn.
Turret Rocks is an interesting contender. As a juvenile she was a Group 2 winner and Group 1-placed. She didn’t reach those heights last year but didn’t run at all badly in the Irish and Yorkshire Oaks on her last two outings last year. She is not one to underestimate. Laganore won at listed level and was Group 1-placed last season. She is an intriguing contender.
Selection: SOMEHOW
Next Best: Turret Rocks
4.05 GOWRAN PARK FESTIVAL OF SPEED RACE 1M 1F 100YDS
Taj Mahal can progress from his comeback second to his classy stablemate Orderofthegarter in the Leopardstown 2000 Guineas Trial earlier in the month. On that occasion the Galileo colt was beaten just under 4l into second and he can do better following that run and over this longer trip. At the end of last season he indicated that he could hold his own in good company when running with credit at Group 3 and Group 1 level.
Brutal who needs to improve on his comeback seventh in the Ballysax Stakes. This colt developed into a decent type last season when he won a 1m Leopardstown maiden on quick ground as well as running a creditable fifth in the Racing Post Trophy.
Selection: TAJ MAHAL
Next Best: Brutal
4.35 GOWRAN PARK GOLF OPEN SINGLES HANDICAP (45-65) 1M
An outside draw is a long way from ideal for Keep Believing but he comes here in far better heart than most of his opponents. At the start of the month he was a good second to Make It Hurrah at Cork and he followed that with a victory in a 1m handicap at Navan on Monday evening where he defeated Roses Need Rain by 1¾l. He has risen 20lbs for his last two efforts but can keep pace with his rising mark.
Shawami is interesting on her debut for Jessica Harrington. There was some promise in a couple of her runs last season and she can make her inside draw count.
Selection: KEEP BELIEVING
Next Best: Shawami
5.05 KILKENNY COUNTRY MUSIC FESTIVAL HANDICAP (45-65) 1M
Easy Boy has been running quite well at Dundalk through the winter and he might make a successful return to the turf. Since winning at Dundalk in December he has held his form reasonably well and his latest third to Elusive Approach is a decent effort.
His stablemate No Way Jack has been running well without winning this year and a repeat of either of his last two efforts should see him closely involved. Smiling Emily has a poor draw to overcome but her third to Keep Believing at Navan on Monday makes her a strong contender.
Selection: EASY BOY
Next Best: No Way Jack
