1.20 SEA MOON & SHANTOU AT BURGAGE STUD MAIDEN HURDLE 2M

The 120-rated Future Proof could be the answer. He has run to a very solid level on his three outings over hurdles so far and his latest second to Band Of Outlaws at Limerick over Christmas looks like strong form on the evidence of the latter’s impressive display at Naas last week. Future Proof is preferred to Star Max who progressed from a solid debut behind Gardens Of Babylon to finish third to Konitho at Naas last month. Ingenuity is respected on both his runs while his stablemate Coolongolook is interesting on his jumping debut.

In addition Aim For Glory and Colour Me In command respect on their maiden hurdle showings.

SELECTION: FUTURE PROOF

Next best: Star Max

1.50 RED MILLS TRIAL HURDLE (GRADE 3) 2M

Coeur Sublime is being set a fair task in taking on his elders on just his fourth run over hurdles but he is a smart sort and he may well have won a Grade 2 at Leopardstown over Christmas only to fall at the last.

The evidence this season would suggest that the Irish four-year-olds hurdlers are a good bunch so he might be able to make the most of a substantial weight for age concession and his trainer did send out a four-year-old to be placed in this race four years ago.

Coeur Sublime is preferred to stablemate Farclas who won last season’s Triumph Hurdle.

Farclas hasn’t been at his best this term but has faced no easy task in contesting quality Grade 1 events won by Apple’s Jade and he can make the most of a substantial drop in class. Last year’s winner Forge Meadow is respected and so too is Darasso who has shaped with promise on both his Irish starts and comes here off a respectable fifth to Presenting Percy in the Galmoy Hurdle.

SELECTION: COEUR SUBLIME

Next best: Farclas

2.30 RED MILLS CHASE (GRADE 2) 2M 4F

This looks an excellent opportunity for Monalee to win his first race since defeating Al Boum Photo in last season’s Flogas Novice Chase. In the interim Henry de Bromhead’s charge has posted a series of fine runs in defeat, the latest of which saw him chase home Kemboy in the Grade 1 Savills Chase at Leopardstown over Christmas.

The drop back in trip shouldn’t be of any concern for the dual Cheltenham Festival second and he can see off the talented Killultagh Vic who showed much of his old sparkle in finishing a close third to Presenting Percy in the Galmoy Hurdle here last month.

Last year’s Gold Cup third Anibale Fly is a fascinating runner but he might be vulnerable at this trip on only his second start of the season.

SELECTION: MONALEE

Next best: Killultagh Vic

3.05 RACING TV HANDICAP HURDLE 2M 4F

Hero’s Welcome could make his light weight count. He has yet to win in seven starts, but his last couple of runs have been encouraging and he showed up well to finish fourth to British Art at Down Royal at Christmas when the 2m trip looked a little on the short side for him. Over this longer trip and in a first-time tongue-tie he might get his turn.

Shar Whats Therush recorded his sole success over this trip and he might find this distance more suitable than the 3m he ran over at Fairyhouse last time when he chased home Brosna George.

Eagle Roque is interesting in his first handicap as a look back at his first run over hurdles – a third to Sams Profile at Cork – would suggest that he has prospects of making an impact off his rating.

SELECTION: HERO’S WELCOME

Next best: Shar Whats Therush

3.40 BETVICTOR BEGINNERS CHASE 2M 4F

This could see Duc Des Genievres get off the mark on his third outing over fences. The Grade 1-placed hurdler has shown up well on both his start over the larger obstacles, chasing home A Plus Tard at Naas in December before taking third behind Cilaos Emery over an extended two miles at this track last month.

He is chosen ahead of the capable C’est Jersey who showed up well on his first start of the season when finishing third in a Punchestown beginners’ chase where the subsequent Grade 3 winner Ballyward took third. Burrows Saint, another Mullins runner, is respected as is Crafty Power who fell when holding every chance at Limerick over Christmas on his first run for close to three years.

SELECTION: DUC DES GENIEVRES

Next best: C’est Jersey

4.15 BOOK DIRECT AT TALBOTCARLOW.IE CAREYS COTTAGE CUP NOVICE HANDICAP CHASE 2M

Crazyheart can add this race to the chasing success he recorded at Tramore on New Year’s Day.

He was an early casualty at Thurles last time but before that he showed up well before eventually fading to sixth in a 2m handicap hurdle won by Spare Brakes here on Thyestes day.

There are more races to be won with him and he is chosen ahead of the top-weight, Reach Up, whose third to Redhotfillypeppers at Limerick over Christmas makes him a dangerous rival. Fairly Legal is well treated compared to the mark he reached over hurdles but he has struggled over fences and this is his first run since May.

SELECTION: CRAZYHEART

Next best: Reach Up

4.50 IRISH STALLION FARMS EBF RONAN LAWLOR MEMORIAL MARES (PRO/AM) FLAT RACE 2M 1F

This offers Daylight Katie a good chance to get off the mark.

The Gordon Elliott-trained mare has shown a good level of form on both her outings so far and a repeat of her second to Caravation at Naas in November would make her hard to beat.

Her rallying third to Tens Or Better at Punchestown was also a good effort and that form has since been franked by the runner-up, The Caddy Rose, going on to win by a wide margin next time.

Etincelle Lioterie showed up well on her debut to finish a close fifth in a Limerick bumper won by Shanches and she could well reverse that form with Miss Cedille who finished a place in front of her that day.

SELECTION: DAYLIGHT KATIE
