Castilian Queen looked a certain future scorer when a promising fourth on her debut at Cork. Stepping up an additional furlong should suit the Ger Lyons-trained daughter of Frankel.

A promising fourth at that same venue on his debut, the Aidan O’Brien-trained colt stepped up on that effort when taking minor honours recently. It will take a smart performance to deny the son of Camelot.

Breath Of Paradise, who finished a short head in front of the selection on their only previous meeting, shouldn’t be far away. With the Jessica Harrington stable firing on all cylinders at present, the son of Blackbeard looks a strong contender.

A stablemate of the selection, Sindria rates the main danger. A listed winner over course and distance in May, the daughter of Kodiac ran well when third in a Group 3 at the Curragh on her most recent appearance.

Ryefield Dasher can make his experience count back in maiden company. Having run with credit in similar races last season, the Thomas Gibney-trained gelding has acquitted himself well in handicaps of late. Dropping back to this trip should suit and he is one of the more likely winners on official ratings. Storzando ran well at Down Royal on his second start but has failed to replicate that form subsequently. While he has something to prove at this stage, the Michael Mulvany-trained gelding has the ability to win in this grade.

While a wide draw is an obvious concern here, the Sands Of Mali gelding looks well handicapped. Unlucky in running when fourth over a mile here last time, Cosmic Funk has to be a contender. Having been denied a passage up the rail, the Pat Murphy-trained gelding stayed on again late on once in the clear.

Narrowly denied at Clonmel on Wednesday, Reponse Finale can make amends. Despite her tendency to badly miss the break, the Gavin Cromwell-trained mare has won twice this season and finished second a couple of times. A stiff track like this with a longer straight should give her every chance of a third win.

Gordon Bennett, who has dropped a long way in the handicap in recent times, has to be a danger. Having run better than the bare result suggests at Roscommon last time, the Peter Fahey-trained gelding has place claims at the very least.
