12.45 Sea Moon & Silverwave At Burgage Stud Maiden Hurdle 2m

Madness d’Elle had his rivals in trouble from some way out on his first start for Willie Mullins last month, but his frontrunning performance after a 10-month absence told before the final flight, as he was swallowed up by a strong finisher.

With that run under his belt, he should be hard to beat here, although blacktype flat horse Arouet could be anything. He’s by a top dual-purpose sire in Galiway, but heavy National Hunt ground is an unknown.

The ground should help Manoir De Mirande reproduce the promise he showed on hurdle bow, when he fell leading over the last. Yielding ground may have been to blame next time at Leopardstown, where the French AQPS winner failed to fire when it mattered.

SELECTION: MADNESS D’ELLE

1.20 Red Mills Trial Hurdle (Grade 3) 2m

This race has been won by some top-class horses in the past, including Hardy Eustace, Teahupoo, Un De Sceaux and Youlneverwalkalone. Storm Heart has shown star quality before, finishing second and fourth to Kargese in Grade 1s, and showed all the signs that he’d retained his ability when winning on return at Christmas.

That run gives him a fitness edge over stablemate Kawaboomga, who returns a year after beating William Munny in a maiden hurdle, having chased home Kopek Des Bordes a month prior.

Farren Glory and Workahead, who finished third and fourth in a Grade 3 on their seasonal debuts last month, have yet to reproduce the talent they showed as novices, but appear the most likely to fight for third.

SELECTION: STORM HEART

Next best: Kawaboomga

1.55 Surehaul Mercedes-Benz Novice Hurdle (Grade 3) 2m 7f

This Grade 3 was transferred from Clonmel’s cancelled card and is now run over a furlong shorter, which shouldn’t bother Timesareachanging, who made a smart start over hurdles last month.

He beat some useful rivals, with the fourth horse having been beaten a head by Bally Free on his previous start, though it’s likely that the trip didn’t work in his favour. Having said that, Slattery’s charge remains the choice here, with further progress expected on his second start over hurdles.

Elliott’s lightly-raced point recruit is a respected opponent, but may have needed that extra furlong he would have had at Clonmel, considering how he battled back to get up on the line last time.

Changeyourstars has some notable form on her CV, denying a more experienced blacktype mare last time out and had recent listed winner Zanoosh behind her a month prior. She looks most likely to take third today.

2.30 Albert Bartlett Triple Crown Series At Punchestown Festival 2026 Qualifier Handicap Hurdle 2m 4f 40yd

This is a much easier assignment for Laxxio as he makes his handicap debut off 108. A faller on debut, he finished third and fourth in hot races the next twice and, while he was beaten over 20 lengths each time, he’s got a low mark and it’s difficult to be overly confident in his competition here.

Themanintheanorak went up 7lb for his first win over hurdles earlier this month, which didn’t seem too harsh given that he could have won by further with more fluent leaps at the final two. The race has worked out relatively well, too, which boosts his prospects.

Josh Williamson’s claim earns Grimaud a place on the shortlist, as he now runs off 3lb lower than when finishing second in a €45,000 handicap hurdle in November. The King Of Prs is another to note as the talented chaser returns to hurdling, though his best performances have been over shorter.

3.05 Ronan Lawlor Memorial Irish EBF Mares (Pro/Am) INH Flat Race 2m 1f

Luciole Des Bordes is the obvious choice, having finished fifth in the George Mernagh Bumper first time out and returned to finish second to a race-fit rival on New Year’s Day.

With two runs under her belt, she gets the vote over Wicked Pleasure, who entered the notebook after chasing home an experienced mare and well-backed favourite on debut. The full-sister to Zanoosh is bred to handle today’s conditions, while Nan’s Choice made a promising debut on heavy ground in Limerick at Christmas.

She led from two furlongs out before tiring into fourth behind more experienced mares, including a point-to-point winner. Improvement is expected and it’s interesting to note that she’s closely related to unbeaten Grade 2 bumper winner Broadway Ted.

£100,000 point-to-pointer Red Acres Georgie was a bit disappointing on her rules debut on New Year’s Day, but considering it was her first start since the previous May, she’s entitled to improve considerably from that.

3.40 Red Mills Chase (Grade 2) 2m 3f 70yd

Willie Mullins accounts for half of the disappointing (and characteristically) small field of four, as he aims to win this race for a fifth consecutive year. Classic Getaway obliged last year but has been disappointing so far this term, tailing off last time out at Tramore.

Stablemate Impaire Et Passe is a far more attractive proposition, with the multiple Grade 1 winner’s class expected to override fitness on his first start of the season. It’s a while since he ran on ground this heavy, but he won a Grade 2 on it, so it’s not a major concern.

Even with a 9lb penalty as a Grade 1 winner, he’s expected to easily account for Sa Fureur, as the former Foxrock Chase winner returns to fences.

Gavin Cromwell expressed his plans to go chasing with Champagne Jury after his maiden hurdle win on Thyestes day, when the ground was also testing.

This trip shouldn’t be a problem, but that’s more guaranteed with King Alexander, who went close over a similar trip to this that same day. Beaten a neck on his only prior start over fences, he deserves to get his head in front today.

Da Capo Glory took a step forward on his second start over fences and this shorter trip should also bring further improvement, with his last two wins coming over two and a half miles.

4.50 O’Driscolls Irish Whiskey Careys Cottage Cup Handicap Chase 2m 3f 70yd

Last year’s runner-up Soloman Lane is now rated 6lb higher and, while he may be able to run well off that, his inconsistency doesn’t make him the most attractive betting proposition.

Happy Dreams, in contrast, is more reliable since dropping down the ratings this season, his first three starts yielding two wins and a second.

Last month’s sixth wasn’t bad enough to dismiss him here, and his proven form on heavy ground rates his chances higher than Slanagaibhgoleir, who received a workable mark of 125 for winning a beginners chase at Down Royal.
