12.10 Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Beginners Chase 2m

Sixandahalf can bounce back from a surprise defeat on her chasing debut. She was a long odds-on favourite when losing out to Herja, placed third and second respectively in two Grade 2 chases since, in a two-runner affair at Sligo at the end of September, her first outing since the Cheltenham Festival in March.

Likely to improve, she could have the beating of Miss Fourie who made an awful blunder at the final fence when looking set to win the Grade 3 Ballymore Irish EBF Kilbegnet Novice Chase at Roscommon. She looked to have the beating of A Snow White Park, successful again at Clonmel on Thursday, that day. There will certainly be easier opportunities ahead for both Mo Ghille Mar and Cruisin Susan.

SELECTION: SIXANDAHALF

Although yet to win a race of any description, Minella Post has plenty going for him. Once rated 116 over hurdles, he went close in a maiden hurdle at Ballinrobe in August and then went well enough from the front in a much stronger affair at Navan.

Up against it on his chasing debut at Fairyhouse, he’ll now be suited by the drop in class and the step back up in distance. Build A Bridge backed up his handicap hurdle success at Punchestown last month when a narrow runner-up at Limerick just four days later.

While both Princess Aveen and Eternal Reward are recent maiden hurdle winners, Market Ready could be more of a danger as he too goes chasing for the first time.

SELECTION: MINELLA POST

The ground was heavy when Break My Soul won her beginners’ chase at this fixture a year ago but she’s a proven performer on much quicker conditions. Last season’s highlight was certainly her third-place finish on good ground in the Grand Annual Handicap Chase at the Cheltenham Festival and she lost little in defeat behind improver Sainte Lucie when last seen in a listed mares’ hurdle at Killarney in May.

Leave In Secret has run his best races on good or good to yielding ground and should improve on his recent effort at Galway. Maidenstreetprince was runner-up in a fair race on heavy ground here in March and isn’t easily ruled out as he returns to handicap chase company.

Cracking Cloud might make an impact on his hurdles debut. He didn’t run too badly on a couple of starts here early in the flat season and the draw was certainly against him on his first run since June when in mid-division on his handicap debut at the Curragh a little under three weeks ago. Brady Hartsfield showed up well on each of his three bumper runs on heavy ground last season and he too goes jumping for the first time on his first start since finishing behind recent maiden hurdle winner Skerry Hill at Ayr in April.

Baila Conmigo has plenty of experience and is a definite danger while Huntin Boots might be best watched after his antics when an odds-on favourite on his hurdling debut at Wexford.

SELECTION: CRACKING CLOUD

Reckless was well beaten when fourth in a bumper here on heavy ground in March but he’s better judged on his earlier run on a much sounder surface in a maiden hurdle at Fairyhouse on New Year’s Day. On that occasion, he was well clear of the remainder when runner-up to his odds-on stable companion, and subsequent winner, Spinningayarn and his experience might stand to him.

Got The Honours looks the chief threat on his racecourse debut. He held a narrow advantage when left clear by the exit of Minella Cyclone, a maiden hurdle winner at Kilbeggan since, in a point-to-point at Ballysteen back in April. Wartime Leader showed promise in bumpers as a four and five-year-old and has his second start over hurdles as he returns from a 12-month absence.

Kome Dans Un Reve backed up a fine effort at Clonmel at the beginning of last month when scoring in good style at Limerick last time. The form of the Clonmel race is certainly working out well and at Limerick, the first two home were nicely clear. The selection is up in class for this, but he might well hold his own against Cocofred who got up in the final strides to pip the front-running Firebrand by a neck at Killarney in early October. Facile Ocean was a length and a quarter ahead of Papagei when winning at Downpatrick and both possibly hold more of a chance than the three-year-old Bell Ex Too, 3lb out of the handicap proper on his first start in a handicap.

SELECTION: KOME DANS UN REVE

A Snow White Park is set for a quick reappearance after taking a listed mares’ chase without too much fuss at Clonmel on Thursday, a win that saw her complete a hat-trick over fences after a fortuitous Grade 3 success at Roscommon and an earlier 10-length victory in a handicap chase at Tramore when rated 102. She now boasts a rating of 122 over fences and runs off a mark of just 100 on her return to hurdles.

None of today’s rivals are in the same form although Demanding Gerry is quite consistent and ran well again when second to Mount Shenshan, a winner over fences since, in a handicap hurdle at Clonmel early last month. Lady Fromentro is far less exposed but needs to improve on what she showed at Downpatrick in June while Grace’s Legacy possibly ran her best race at Tramore last time and might be even more competitive back in a handicap.

SELECTION: A SNOW WHITE PARK

Next best: Mount Shenshan

Rumble Demosa is having only her second start in a handicap hurdle but might be given a chance after taking third spot in an ‘unplaced’ maiden hurdle at Limerick last month. A couple of mistakes didn’t help her cause but it was a decent enough effort behind a well-fancied winner. Jolly d’Olivate looks a leading contender having run a big race on her first outing in a handicap hurdle behind Fire Coral at the Listowel Festival.

It’s hard to rule out a trio of recent runners-up, Poetic Focus when closest when losing out by just a nose at Clonmel early last month, Talas Kera ran her best race so far at Gowran Park while Kayla’s Friend wasn’t far off adding to her win for Olly Murphy at Uttoxeter in June at Fairyhouse only last Tuesday.

SELECTION: RUMBLE DEMOSA
