3.40 MOYGLARE STUD STAKES (GROUP 1) 7F

Beach Belle: Won her first two starts in good style, notably when disposing of some capable rivals in a Naas listed race over 6f in early June. Didn’t run at all badly against the colts when a 2½l fourth to Dick Whittington in the Phoenix Stakes but she has to improve on her recent Debutante Stakes sixth.

Cursory Glance: Looked every inch a top drawer juvenile filly when running out a decisive winner of the 6f Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot. Lost absolutely nothing in defeat on her first run since then when a 1½l second to Tiggy Wiggy in the Lowther Stakes and her strong finishing effort at Ascot, coupled with her pedigree, suggests that the step to this trip will hold no fears for her.

Found: Produced a display of real style on her debut in a 1m maiden here last month when coming from well back in a steadily run maiden to win quite easily from her subsequently stakes-placed stablemate Together Forever. She looks a potentially top drawer filly and must be considered a leading contender.

I Am Beautiful: Got a canny ride from the front to win a Group 3 over 6f here on Derby weekend. She has since struggled in the Phoenix Stakes and her latest seventh place finish in the Debutante Stakes leaves her with work to do against a number of these.

Jeanne Girl: Looked a nice prospect when winning a 6f maiden here in May and was just touched off by I Am Beautiful at Group 3 level the following month. Comes into this off a solid 3¼l fourth to Raydara in the Debutante Stakes and that was probably her best effort to date but it still leaves her with something to find.

Lucida: A debut victory in a 6f conditions race at Naas last month marked her out as a filly of some promise and she followed that initial display with a fine ½l second to Raydara in the Debutante. That last run gives her an edge over a number of these rivals and she could easily do better still after just two runs. She is respected.

Malabar: Showed a good deal of promise to finish a 2½l fourth to Cursory Glance at Ascot on just her second start when looking as though a step up in trip would suit well. Since then she has won both her starts over 7f, including when landing the Group 3 Prestige Stakes with something to spare. This is an appreciably tougher race but she is an improving filly who could make her presence felt.

Osaila: She too contested the Albany Stakes on her second start, finishing fifth to Cursory Glance. Since then she has won twice, notably when landing the Group 3 Princess Margaret Stakes at Ascot. There are mixed messages from that form but on breeding she will relish moving up to this distance and she too is a strong contender.

Qualify: Performed to quite a decent level on her first two starts and then made short work of her rivals in a 7f fillies maiden at Dundalk last month. Looked to run her race in last month’s Debutante when fifth to Raydara and that effort leaves her with something to find against several of these opponents.

Simply A Star: Capable filly who has run well over a variety of trips and was placed in two reasonable Leopardstown maidens over this distance during the summer. She has won her maiden over 5f though and her two listed placings have also come at that trip. Consistent and reliable but should find a few too strong.

THE VERDICT

Cursory Glance boasts the strongest form in this race and she is certainly the one to beat. There is every reason to believe that this longer trip will suit and she is preferred to Found who looked a filly of some promise when making a winning debut here last month. The Debutante Stakes runner-up Lucida is respected and Osaila has an obvious chance, but it would not surprise if the improving Malabar completed the placings.
