FOLLOWING the success of last weekend’s Munich visit, Frankie Dettori has once again been booked to ride a supplementary entry in the Group 1 Preis der Diana (German Oaks) at Düsseldorf tomorrow (Sunday).

This time it is another Irish-bred, but British-trained horse – Hugo Palmer’s Architecture, runner-up in both the Oaks at Epsom and the Irish version at the Curragh.

“The race at Düsseldorf is a furlong shorter than the two Oaks races she has run in, and I think that will be to her advantage. She certainly deserves to win a classic now,” said Palmer of the Zoffany filly.

Palmer has also taken the German 1000 Guineas this season, which is also run at Düsseldorf, and he added: “It is rather a tight track, so I hope we get a good draw.”

Architecture has since been drawn wide in stall 10 in a maximum field of 16 runners.

Architecture reminds one of Dancing Rain, who won the Oaks at Epsom, was fifth at the Curragh, and then came to Düsseldorf to win the German version very easily under Kieren Fallon in 2011.

She looks certain to start a warm favourite, and if the handicappers have it right this time, she has 9lbs in hand.

There is not much between the main German contenders, seven of whom are trained by Markus Klug, with his main jockey Adrie de Vries partnering Gestüt Röttgen’s homebred Kasalla, one of six fillies in the field by Soldier Hollow.

This race has thrown up many surprise results in recent years, but it certainly looks a case of whoever beats Architecture, wins.
