12.40 Last Chance To WINABMW.IE Mares Maiden Hurdle 2m 11yds

Tucanae looked a nice mare when landing a Limerick bumper on heavy ground last Christmas and she is better than she showed when beaten 10l by Fort Worth Texas over 2m 6f at Punchestown in February. She should suit dropping back to this trip and she might just have the measure of Carrigeen Lotus who could be vulnerable on her comeback.

The latter looked a high-class prospect last season when her form included a dominant success in a Cork bumper which was then followed by an excellent third to Darling Daughter in a Grade 2 event at Leopardstown.

SELECTION: TUCANAE

His maiden hurdle win at Fairyhouse last November marks out Diol Ker as an exciting recruit to fences. On that occasion he returned from 11 months off to win a red-hot affair that worked out especially well as evidenced by the 7l runner-up Monkfish going on to land the Albert Bartlett at Cheltenham. He now has a 348-day absence to overcome but runs well fresh.

Speak Easy sets a fair standard with a rating of 142. He showed quite a decent level of form without winning last term and his third to Ronald Pump in a quality Fairyhouse beginners’ chase just under a year ago gives him every chance.

Chavi Artist is 10lb higher than when last successful but can add to his tally. Since he last won, he has run well in the Leopardstown Chase and he was a good second to Doctor Duffy in the Mayo National at Ballinrobe early last month.

Chavi Artist can see off Konitho who has room for improvement in this sphere as this is just his fourth chasing outing in Ireland. He showed up well at this track last month to finish third to Tiger Voice in a 2m 2f beginners’ chase and it is interesting that he is upped in trip.

SELECTION: CHAVI ARTIST

2.25 Anna O’Coinne Memorial Handicap Chase (0-109) 2m 6f 111yds

A quick return to action could pay dividends for Rock On Barney who was successful at Tipperary earlier in the week when he coped well with testing going. The manner in which he finished out that 2m 4f affair would indicate that a step-up to this trip should present him with no problems and his light weight should once again work in his favour.

Hoke Colborn finished just in front of Rock On Barney at Ballinrobe last weekend when the pair filled fourth and fifth place in a handicap chase won by Ciankyle and is unlikely to be far away.

Minella Melody hasn’t been seen since Cheltenham where she ran no race but she might make a winning return. She is a quality mare and had previously produced a lovely effort at Fairyhouse to defeat a pair of smart rivals in Colreevy and Dolcita.

She lacks the advantage of a run but she might still be able to see off the fascinating Grand Roi who looked a potentially smart sort for Nicky Henderson for whom he won three of his four starts.

Beacon Edge has fitness on his side and has every chance on the form he showed in quality novice hurdles last season.

After running out a very impressive winner of his point-to-point, Coqolino was second on his racecourse debut last March but that 10l defeat came at the hands of a top prospect in Bob Olinger. Coqolino can make a winning start over hurdles at the expense of Lieutenant Command who impressed with his debut success in a Limerick bumper last Christmas and then ran an honourable third to Appreciate It in a Grade 2 bumper at Leopardstown in February.

SELECTION: COQOLINO

Next best: Lieutenant Command

Bold Emperor showed up well on his first run since March when chasing home the useful Mig Des Taillons in a 2m handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse two weeks ago. If he can run to that level or even improve he looks the one to beat.

Uisce Solas can probably improve on what she has shown over hurdles so far and she didn’t run badly in a quality handicap hurdle when last in action.

SELECTION: BOLD EMPEROR

She has two nice runs to her name, the first of which was a second to Weseekhimhere at this track in July, and Mighty Meggsie might now get her turn.

She faces a notable newcomer in the Willie Mullins-trained Grangee who is a half-sister to several blacktype jumpers on the continent. The Roscommon second Champagnesocialist is another to consider closely.

SELECTION: MIGHTY MEGGSIE
