Useful flat horse Kibris was sent off favourite on hurdle debut, but his inexperience showed and he was beaten two and a half lengths into second. It wasn’t the strongest contest, but he is expected to come on from that effort and he had Crooked Path two lengths behind him.
Eight days prior, Denis Hogan’s charge had been narrowly denied in a similar race at Gowran, where he separated two well-backed horses. He should go close again today, if the busy month doesn’t get to him.
SELECTION: KIBRIS

L’Evangeliste’s hurdle debut last month suggested that the point-to-point and bumper winner could do even better in this discipline, as he finished two lengths behind Champion Bumper runner-up Heads Up. He appeared to tire at Listowel - his first start since May - and should strip fitter now for his in-form yard.
His hurdling experience is expected to give him the edge over recent bumper winner Mullaghgloss, who won’t lack match fitness - something of a concern for Walking In Mayo on her first start since winning a point-to-point by 15 lengths in March.
Campbell Black is expected to take a step forward, having been beaten 15 and a half lengths following strong market support on debut.

Henry de Bromhead must have a high opinion of King’s Bucks, as he also bought the horse that chased him home at Ballindenisk, where the Buck’s Boum gelding justified favouritism. His rules debut in March was promising, if unsuccessful, and he remains an intriguing prospect over hurdles.
His stable’s fine form sets his chance marginally above that of Eachtotheirown, who was sent off favourite on debut in January, when splitting two well-regarded types. He was a bit disappointing next time but the winner may have been smart and he is bred to be better over hurdles or fences.
Listed winner and Grade 1 third Shuttle Diplomacy is another smart bumper horse worthy of support, while newcomer Get Your Coat is worth watching in the market.

Lightly-raced Martin Pipe runner-up Waterford Whispers was sent off favourite on his seasonal return, but shaped like he needed the run and wasn’t helped by a faller four out. Pitched at Grade 1 level on his second start over fences last season, he has evidently shown ability schooling over the bigger obstacles and is Mark Walsh’s pick of the McManus pair.
The promise shown by Prends Garde A Toi in his sole point-to-point saw him sell for €155,000, so there’s every chance that this maiden hurdle winner will prove a better chaser.
Come Walk With Me was unlucky to come up against some smart horses over hurdles, finishing second to Honesty Policy and Redemption Day. However, he did need the run on debut, so may be a better prospect with today behind him.
Grade 3 hurdler Hermino AA showed little on his two previous attempts over fences, but his new trainer has a magic touch when it comes to rejuvenating horse in training buys.

Grann’s Boy races off a career-high mark after winning two of his last three starts over hurdles, with a flat win since. He went up 8lb for his two-length Listowel success, with the third horse subsequently winning at listed level. His flat pedigree is a worry regarding today’s step up in trip, but his strong finish at Listowel gives hope.
The trip won’t be a problem for Rue Taylor, who was last seen winning over three miles in April. Connections reported that day that she would strengthen and improve from a summer’s break, and she’s gone well fresh before. Eoin Staples’ claim is another bonus.
The top two were smart hurdlers at one time, but may come on from the run and softer ground.

County Champs caught the eye when staying on well on return earlier this month. His jumping was rusty at times, but the run should stand to him, and he deserves a maiden win after three placings from his last four starts.
He finished a length and three-quarters behind Love Bite last time and, with the winner benefiting from recent runs and subsequently up 6lb, today’s odds are in the gelding’s favour.
Today’s trip could bring out the best in the race-fit Survivors Sister on handicap debut. She placed in point-to-points and her full-brother won over three miles.
Queen Kulina is another mare for the shortlist, having run a decent race earlier this month, considering the lightly-raced nine-year-old hadn’t been seen since May 2024.

Three lengths separated Zeus Power and Jet Renegade here on October 7th, when the former was green and sent off favourite, while the latter produced significant improvement to what he’d shown between the flags.
Both are expected to improve again, but there’s no obvious reason to suggest that they’ll reverse the form with each other. It appeared to be a better field than the bumper in which Premier Rogue finished third, but his progression from debut to second start was encouraging.
Leonard Vallis made a promising start to his career in a maiden hurdle earlier this month, demonstrating a willing attitude to be beaten a length and a half against more experienced rivals. The €75,000 store is out of a mare who twice won on the level, so he may prove just as strong in a bumper.
