CORK-based Ballantines Racing Stud Ltd has an each-way chance of landing the Prix Renaud du Vivier which is the last Grade 1 jump race of the French season.

The stable is in good form as on Thursday at Chantilly their two-year-old Salt Lake City picked up a conditions race worth €20,680. The company has won four flat races and the same number of jump events and prize money to the tune of nearly €400,000. Robert Collet trains their French string and he will saddle Titi De Montmartre in the Renaud du Vivier at Auteuil tomorrow.

The four-year-old filly won a Grade 3 hurdle at the track last year and in March was ninth in a novices’ hurdle at Cheltenham but has yet to open her 2017 account. François Nicolle has a leading chance of winning the race for the first time. He fields a trio horses and might even train the first three past the post.

James Reveley will be on the most fancied, De Bon Coeur. She has only been beaten on one occasion and that was due to a fall when having the Grade 1 Prix Alain du Breil completely at her mercy. Nicolle’s other runners are Jazz In Montreux and Hurkhan. De Bon Coeur bolted up in the Prix Pierre de Lassus her last month and she should again thrash many of her old rivals.

Later in the afternoon, Peter Carberry rides Docteur De Ballon for his sister-in-law Louisa in the Listed Prix General Donino. The five-year-old is on a hat-trick and he will have most to fear from the Reveley-ridden Aviso d’Estruval who is unbeaten in four races this season was and a 10-length winner at Auteuil last month.
