2:20 JUMPS RACING RETURNS TO FAIRYHOUSE MAIDEN HURDLE 2M

The Tom Mullins-trained Indian Court may well be up to making a winning hurdling debut in it. The son of Indian River acquitted himself well in both his starts in bumpers, most recently finishing second to Thats Nice at Roscommon in May. He promises to be even better over hurdles and market support for him on his return from a summer break would be encouraging. Of those with hurdling experience, the Gordon Elliott-trained John Monash ran well without winning in bumpers and made a satisfactory start over hurdles at Navan last month. He could well improve enough to go close.

Selection: INDIAN COURT

Next Best: John Monash

2:55 BOBBYJO BISTRO GREAT VALUE FOOD MAIDEN HURDLE 2M 4F

In common with the opener, those with hurdling experience do not look too far out of the ordinary, so a chance is taken on a hurdling debutant in the shape of the Mick Winters-trained Churchtown Champ. The five-year-old won a point-to-point at Dromahane in December and was fancied to make a winning racecourse debut in a bumper at Listowel last month only to just find Cloghala too good for him. He should prove even better over hurdles and while this sounder surface is an unknown, it wouldn’t surprise to see him making a winning start over hurdles. The pick of those with hurdling experience looks to be the Gordon Elliott-trained Unic De Bersy.

3:30 CAVALOR PREMIUM FEED, SUPPLEMENTS AND CARE BEGINNERS CHASE 2M

A maiden chase of depth and quality for this time of year and preference is given to the Jessica Harrington-trained Gambling Girl. The six-year-old is rated 128 over hurdles and was in the process of making a promising chasing debut at Listowel last month only to fall at the second last fence. She was likely to have finished second to Sizing Codelco had she stood up and if she can build on that effort, she will be tough to beat. Her main danger could well be the Pat Shanahan-trained King Of The Picts, with the 139-rated hurdler having made an encouraging chasing debut in Grade 3 novice chase company at Roscommon last month.

Selection: GAMBLING GIRL

Next Best: King Of The Picts

The one that makes the most appeal is the Mick Winters-trained Kara Loca. The six-year-old has only made four public appearances in her career, winning a point-to-point at Kildorrery in February and a maiden hurdle at Ballinrobe in September. She made her chasing debut at Sligo last month and shaped with promise while perhaps finding the trip to be too short for her. This distance will suit much better and with improvement forthcoming, she is likely to go very close. Of the newcomers to chasing, the Gordon Elliott-trained Rosie Revenue is only rated 95 over hurdles, but could well improve over the larger obstacles.

Selection: KARA LOCA

Next Best: Rosie Revenue

4:40 SHELBOURNE FC RACE DAY CELEBRATING 120 YEARS TODAY HANDICAP HURDLE (80-95) 2M 4F

A chance is taken on the John Berry-trained Day Day. The five-year-old has taken time to get the hang of hurdling, but she shaped with clear promise in a handicap hurdle at Cork in August, finishing third to Phil The Flyer. She could well step up on that effort and is likely to run very well. Of the rest, the Ado McGuinness-trained Sounds Of Thunder is a solid proposition.

Selection: DAY DAY

Next Best: Sounds Of Thunder

5:15 JURYS INN CHELTENHAM HANDICAP HURDLE 2M

The Tony Martin-trained Artful Artist jumps off the page. The six-year-old has progressed very well on the flat in recent seasons and remains unexposed over hurdles. While he has disappointed when sent off as favourite in his two starts in handicap hurdles to date, it is only likely to be a matter of time before he strikes and this could be the day. Of his rivals, the Patrick Mooney-trained Colla Pier is far from straightforward, but she is capable at this level and is likely to run another solid race.

Selection: ARTFUL ARTIST

Next Best: Colla Pier

This bumper could well fall to the Martin Lynch-trained Beyond The Obvious. The seven-year-old acquitted himself very well indeed in above-average bumpers last season, not finishing far behind the smart Willie Mullins-trained performers Bellshill and Up For Review. He has gone well when fresh in the past and it wouldn’t surprise to see him make a bold bid for glory on his return to action. The main danger looks to be the Willie Mullins-trained Bobarlee and while she is clearly no star, her latest run at Navan reads well in the context of this race.
